General Info Biography: Radric Davis was born February 12, 1980 in Birmingham, AL. He is known as one of the fathers of Trap Music and is very much at the forefront of Atlanta hip-hop. He debuted his first album, Trap House in 2005 where it made it into the Billboard Top 20 Hip-Hop/R&B albums. He released three more albums before starting his own record label 1017 Records in 2007. Ever since a child he was into poetry and rapping and pretty much always pursued it. However, it wasn't until he got out of jail for slinging dope that he released his first project. This wasn't his last time in the system either, in 2013 he was arrested for gun possession and released 6 projects while inside the prison. Overall, he was released over 80 projects (12 albums, 70 mixtapes) and has worked with tons of important artists such as Kanye West, Young Thug, 2 Chainz, and least notably Drake Major Discography: I haven't listened to an entire Gucci Mane album as they are usually really long. However, his singles are straight fire bro
Evil Genius (2018)
Mr. Davis (2017)
The Return of East Atlanta Santa (2016)
1017 vs. The World (Collaborative album with Lil Uzi Vert)
Sounds Like Genre: Trap/Rap Similar Artists: Young Thug, Waka Flocka Flame, 2 Chainz, Rick Ross Similar Artists on the Farm: I guess Cardi B. Music isn't that similar but there is definitely an over-lapping fan base and both huge Atlanta artists.
Suggested Listening
Physical Reaction/Live Show I have never seen Mr. Guwop but you bet your sweet ass I will be there at the Farm this year. I imagine his show is probably like any other trap artist show except his is probably better since he started it. I would compare it to a better sounding Future show from last year. Here is his set from Rolling Loud.
Interesting Facts
He was in the movie Spring Breakers starring Selena Gomez
He proposed to his wife after performing at the Atlanta Hawks Halftime Show
He has been arrested for driving on the wrong side of the road.
Personal Notes Gucci Mane is a staple to Atlanta hip-hop. His music is so much fun, if not objectively good. He is at the top of my watch list this year and was truly excited when I saw his name on the lineup. The man is a legend and I hope to see you all there

"I imagine his show is probably like any other trap artist show except his is probably better since he started it."
I remember back in highschool and even earlier that I felt like Gucci came out of the gate biting Young Jeezy in a pretty obvious way. Definitely admit most of terrible mumble rap that comes out now sounds closer to Gucci than Jeezy, but idk if Gucci was more responsible for Trap Music in general than Jeezy, TI or 36.

He's definitely a pioneer
I like him a decent bit. I just don't know if he pioneered in a good way.
I think that’s just because of Offset but she definitely isn’t an Atlanta rapper.
I don't think anyone cares about semantics lol
Gucci Mane is from Alabama and moved to NYC
It’s whatever the artist claims or where they get big. Big Boi, Kanye, 2Pac (born in NY ironically), Eminem, etc are all from different places than they’re associated with.
But there isn’t really much rap on this lineup at all which is odd. Cardi, Gambino and Post crowd the top but not much below that.

I heard its not where your from but where you pay rent.

He made it more fun and inspired a wave where it was okay to be weird and not take yourself so seriously. You probably wouldn't have Young Thug or Migos without Gucci. While I don't love everything those artists do, I enjoy enough of their music that I'm glad they exist.
