made up some caprese-like gnocchi last night. blistered a bunch of cherry tomatoes from the garden and added some balsamic/veggie stock/tomato paste to make a bit of sauce, browned some gnocchi to get crispy on the outside and gooey in the middle. topped with basil from the garden and fresh mozz. turned out pretty great for something I just threw together last minute.
gonna have to make some salsa this weekend. i'm getting overrun with big ass tomatoes, and my sister has more jalapenos than she knows what to do with. my cilantro didn't make it though so I'll have to buy some of that.
I made blackened tilapia for the first time today. Had no idea how ridiculously easy it was. Delicious, too.
Main thing against blackening is the smoke it creates if you do it inside. Back in the mid 80’s, my dad used to blacken everything from chicken to fish to steaks or hamburgers. Because of the melted butter poured on during cooking in a super hot cast iron, that shit will smoke up your house. But what a great taste. I could be wrong but I think Chef Paul Prudhomme invented that or at least made it famous. A great tool for blackening is a skillet screen which will catch most of the popping butter splatters.

Went to Breakfast Klub yesterday. Haven't been in like a decade because the line is always crazy but I was already up so I went right when it opened at 7. Pricey but worth the splurge every once in awhile. Got Katfish and Grits, the only thing I've ever gotten there.

I did get a little grease burn flipping them but I'll live. I turned the exhaust on immediately and didn't even set off the smoke detector. Bonus: no fishy odor!
They had a couple partially red jalapeños at the grocery today. I can usually only get red ones at one of the Latin markets. But since they had some, I had to grab a couple. They are give you a little buzz hot but inedible.
garden is going gangbusters. been slacking on pickling this summer but the tomatoes have been so good i haven't really had time to think about that. did a big batch of roasted tomatoes and just throwing that on everything. discovered the most awesome community garden next to a brewery with free mulch, the communal effort that was put into it and the way it's paying off with the perfect weather we've had this year is so fucking cool. the way we're embracing our native heritage in so many ways with thoughtful development of our land makes me so happy. hopping to find a way to get some wild rice planted on that development.
I had a lox, cream cheese open face yesterday from the Daily Beet. It was pretty good. They're a mostly vegetarian/vegan restaurant, optional lox and eggs are the only non-vegan choices.
I love having crafty service, it going to suck when it goes away.

Ranked:
Crunchwrap Supreme Beefy Five Layer Burrito Nachos Bell Grande Chips and *Queso* Potato Soft Taco Cheesy Gordita Crunch Bean Burrito Hard Taco Supreme Soft Taco Chalupa Supreme Regular Hard Taco Burrito Supreme Doritos Taco
The last four are where I'm kinda like "eh these aren't that great". Soft tacos are probably the most underrated thing on the menu but they're essential in the Party Pack.
I don't eat Taco Bell often at all and really don't know their menu. But I'll play: Double Decker Taco Supreme (I think this is gone actually) Soft Taco Supreme Burrito Supreme Mexican Pizza with sour cream Nacho Belle Grande (do they still have that?)
Crunchwrap Supreme Beefy Nacho Loaded Griller (not currently on the menu I don't think?) Beefy Five Layer Soft Taco Supreme
Those are pretty much the only things I'll order (with Crunchwrap being my #1 by far), but I sometimes will order the new items/boxed deals which will feature different things.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

French fries without the orange cheese-product dip Tomatoes Hot sauce packets
And I thought that my list was limited.
I'm just having fun. I don't like taco bell, so I don't eat there. But if someone has some fries or a fire sauce packet, I can put those to use. I guess I could have said chips too, but I don't remember what theirs taste like since I think the last time I went to a Taco Bell was maybe 2008 and am not sure if they had chips then as an order item (I know they had them for their nachos). Except for today (and I might unfreeze some meat later), I ate tacos every day since Sunday a week ago. So I do love tacos, just not what I can get at Taco Bell.

I don't go, thejeremy LOVES Taco Bell. I came home from Peaches at 2am on Saturday and he had some leftover items from a box. I am not going to lie, I devoured it, not even sure what IT was. I paid the price in the morning. I thought i was dying for most of the day.
I have a really shitty one by my work so I never go there. There was a KFC/TB combo not too far from my house but those are always sus to begin with and the last time I went they were closed and people were hauling out the equipment. It's reopening as a bank soon. No other ones near me on a day to day.

I am so excited to be back at work and in the production office so I get craft services. We are ordering lunch from Juan's Flying Burrito and I might cry. I love them so much. So excited.

I can't stand that place. I'll eat it over Felipe's, but I never ever liked the food at Juan's. It always seemed like fake Mexicanish stuff. However, I'm glad you like it and are getting it on the house.

I am getting the Juana Shrimp Roll (Leaf Spinach, Avocado, Salsa la Fonda, Cheddar-Jack and Cream Cheese rolled in a Spinach Tortilla, Sliced, and sprinkled with Cotija) - that or the B.L.A.T. quesadilla (Applewood Smoked Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Avocado, Cheddar-Jack. Chipotle Ranch Dressing) are my go to's. I like Felipe's also. O.o

haha. I like the drinks at Felipe's. My friend Danielle who was an OG bartender at the one in the FQ used to hand squeeze and puree all the fruits used in their margaritas. I don't know if they still do that, but I'll take a squeezed juice margarita over sour mix shit all day every day. I kind of rather make my own Mexican stuff, but I do like Taqueria Corona (with the black chili oil), Johnny Sanchez and El Pavo Real.

I LOVE Taqueria Corona, Johnny Sanchez is good. They have those brussel sprouts that are to fucking die for. nom nom nom
spending the next day baking a bunch of stuff for a friend camping trip this weekend. making a regular dutch oven loaf with some herbs from the garden, brioche hotdog/sausage buns, sourdough blueberry muffins, banana almond butter bread and pecan brittle and oat cookies. didn't realize until halfway through baking that i definitely used the wrong cookie scoop. they're absolutely enormous, each 6 inches across.

They should have everything to make that still, right? Isn't it just a crunchy taco with a tortilla outside and beans in between?
Yeah they still have Nachos Bell Grande. They got rid of the Triple Layer Nachos which were bomb and veggie. Don't think they have the enchilada sauce to make them anymore.
