Yeah, it doesn't get any more basic than that. Olive oil, grey poupon and red wine vinegar is kind of boring without other stuff in there - lemon juice and zest, herbs, salt and pepper, garlic, honey, etc. But for all that shit talking on that tweet, if even a few people see how easy it is to actually make healthy and delicious salad dressing instead of using processed store crap, it will have served a good purpose. It's just too damn easy to make salad dressing if you own a bowl and a whisk (or if you don't, a jar with a lid you can shake until it emulsifies). The hardest part of a vinaigrette is deciding what ratio you want that day (3:1, 2.5:1 or 2:1) and what type of vinegar is going to go the best with the type of salad you are having (e.g. Red Wine, White Wine, Citrus, Balsamic, Raspberry or whatever).
real ones know a bit of sesame oil takes every vinaigrette up a notch
I could see that. I generally use it on raw avocados with salt but haven't made any dressings with it (also drizzled on steamed green beans, but that's different). Toasted sesame oil is good as well.

i don't use the sesame as the main oil. usually just EVOO with a small portion of sesame for that extra umami.
I don’t use ranch because I don’t like mayonnaise or buttermilk, but I’m sure it’s got to be easy to make.
Wait, you don't like mayonnaise?

We just call them wings.
makes sense, in my city we call them Mobile, Alabama Wings and they're made out of west indies salad and moonpies.
I got Burger King today. It wasn’t very good. The fries were not salty, and the lettuce on the whopper was shitty along with some unripened tomatoes. I even added some pretty good sweet hot pickles (The Old Homestead Cajun style), but that didn’t help. Maybe next year?

Kacey Musgraves also shouted out Taco C recently at ACL. 🙏👸
So good. So sad I didn't make it to ACL. Apparently all my peeps asked where I was to my festie bestie. So moving forward, if she is there, so will I be and I will be eaten that Taco C. I miss it. Been like 3 years now.
I don't know what the popular opinion is on the Pappa family of restaurants, but whenever I go to one it's always delicious.
We don't have any here, so I only go when I'm out of town.
pappasitos is a top tier bad restaurant experience almost every time, when it's packed for some reason compared to any other packed restaurant it is just so loud and hectic, giant steaming plates of fajitas it gets so hot, giant tortilla maker is always right in front of the bathroom for some reason, and it's low key expensive. but all that works in my favor because I would eat there all the time other wise, just always consistently good.
it was actually where I did the whole talk to her dad before proposing bit, because it's a slam dunk thing I knew he liked and I was pretty sure it would be busy enough that I wouldn't stick out if we got emotional. nailed it on both counts.
anyone have a good, not too difficult for a non-meat eater to make chicken pot pie recipe? i'm going to use a pie dough recipe from one of my cookbooks but have never made a proper pot pie filling.

If you're just looking for a meat free filling you can use a frozen vegetable medley with a veggie gravy.

my husband requested a pot pie for his birthday dinner so i want to make actual chicken pot pie, but don't have experience with making chicken for something like that. my parents recommended using canned chicken, but that sounds gross?

A rotisserie chicken should work well for a pot pie

Mine takes longer, but I roast a whole chicken with chicken broth and all of the spices/herbs I would usually use for a roasted chicken. Then let it cool and chop it up into a bechamel/cream type sauce with the already sauteed and softened veggies (already carmelized onions, garlic, carrots, celery, peas) and then simmer that on low for a bit to allow it to thicken. If I don't feel like making my own crust, I buy 2 packages of premade crusts and I use a glass cake pan and use two rolled together and shaped for the bottom and two for the top. I also sometimes top it with biscuits instead of crust. I always make too much food though, so a deep pie dish is fine for a smaller crowd. I do not use just chicken breast because it always seems too dry to me. A rotisserie chicken would probably work too, and be faster. If I were doing it for just the boys, I would consider using a rotisserie chicken and frozen mixed veggies. I am not a fan of cream of chicken/mushroom type canned soups because my own sauces are better I feel. But, that would even work for a fast meal.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
