super basic but something i've been enjoying:
1. set oven to preheat to 350 2. put sliced everything bagel in while it's preheating 3. after it gets somewhat toasty, add mozzarella cheese slices and ham slices to each side (cheese closes to the bagel). you can put the bagels on foil at this point to prevent cheese dripping 4. leave until cheese melts and ham warms up
what you end up with is more than the sum of it's parts. the cheese melts into the bagel a bit giving a buttery taste so you really don't need any condiments. i like to eat it "open faced" but you can certainly put the two sides together and eat it like a regular sandwich.

Just went to the grocery store to pick up celery and tomato paste, the last few ingredients I needed to make a bolognese from scratch. I'm doing the whole 3 hour process, it's going to be something I can be proud of. However, I also bought some chicken nuggets shaped like dinosaurs because I'm an adult and nobody can stop me.
Off topic for sandwiches but the Dino nuggets made me think of this. I drink a lot of chocolate milk (probably three gallons a week) and before covid I went to Aldi to stock up and the woman behind me said “wow your kids must like chocolate milk as much as mine” and I was shocked because I definitely don’t look old enough to have multiple kids at the drinking lots of chocolate milk stage of life. I had to explain that all of that milk was in fact for me in front of so many people

bro, 3 gallons a week?
Exactly, imagine having to explain that in front of 20 people at a grocery store

And you'll be posting pics, right?
I can, but bolognese ain't exactly the most photogenic of foods lol
Nick Wiger, one of the hosts of Doughboys, a podcast about fast food and chain restaurants, announced on the show yesterday that he will be going vegetarian in 2021!
I was, of course, very excited to hear this. It's gonna be hard for him to stay veg for a full year eating out. That is not super easy to do at chains. I'm not necessarily aiming for a fully vegetarian future (I gave myself a cheat day and ate some shrimp when I got Chinese takeout yesterday, tbh), but I'd like to do it more often and probably the majority of the time. My personal ideal would be a fully cruelty-free existence and full-on veganism, but right now I'm more focused on making healthier choices, while acknowledging that I will definitely be tempted by meat and dairy, especially the convenience of it, and that maybe not making it totally forbidden will help me psychologically to not make it an either/or proposition where I will *relapse* and just give up avoiding meat altogether.
I tried some MorningStar faux sausage links earlier and got some patties too on beebee 's suggestion. They weren't bad at all. The texture was just slightly off, but the taste was pretty right-on. Don't see it being an issue to make that replacement going forward.

my buddy is doing a pork butt and brining it over tonight. i don't have time to cook sides but i'm going to pick some up from a local bbq place. which made me want to ask, what are y'alls favorite bbq sides? potato salad, beans, cole slaw, etc.?
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Baked Beans w/ the brisket it in there Collard Greens w/ the bacon in there Cole Slaw
i think banana pudding counts as a side for bbq. lots of bbq places sell it as a side, including where i'll be going to get my sides tonight.
Sure but that’s really just because you tend to get everything all at once on a tray at bbq joints. It’s definitely a dessert. Pure sides gotta be Mac and cheese and bbq beans with burnt ends which I’ve been finding Texas doesn’t really do which is a bummer
