I’ve had a few bites of Popeyes chicken sandwiches over the last couple days. No mayo but with Rudy’s tonight from Carrollton @ Earhart which is usually a solid Popeyes. Crunchy and delicious tonight. Its still not top 10 in the city, but it’s solid for a fast food chicken sandwich as there is. It would be my pleasure to eat chick filet but that shit is too whitebread murica in comparison
Been eating good but forgetting to post anything memorable. I’ll be in Pensacola this weekend so if I roll up on anything noteworthy I’ll throw it up there.
i've never had a real spicy chicken sandwich, but a local vegan metal themed restaurant had a fast food pop-up a few weeks back and i got to try a plant based version and it was delicious. i look forward to the day when garageland finds himself in pittsburgh and i get to introduce him to onion maiden.

If I can get the days off, it'll be June and I look forward.

The drink list is on point, too. LIguy can attest to that. I ordered my burger to look at him pouring drinks out of a smoking beaker like some kinda mad scientist.

kind of bummed they stopped the naming at Apps and Salads.
I was just eating and had a hair in my leftovers that got caught up in my teeth. It was longer than mine but I didn’t look at it to see if it came from the cafe my leftovers were from. I decided to dump the rest. Cajun rice, baked beans and a chicken breast. :/

You gotta go with the spicy and add extra spicy mayo. I leave off the pickles, too, because fuck pickles.
The Popeyes on Carrollton and Earhart is the shit. They never mess up my order. The one on Claiborne is hot garbage terrible service.
To me, the Popeyes chicken sandwich is far and away the best fast food chicken sandwich available. However, the long gone but never forgotten Triple Crunch Zinger sandwich from KFC was the greatest sandwich ever made. I used to eat it 3-4 times a week from like age 17-19.
I don’t eat mayonnaise but I do like pickles so we hit that shit in reverse with sweet spicy sauce instead ——————- We had picked up some nice tuna at Joe Patti’s in Pensacola a couple weeks back. So it was time to make and eat tuna tacos (uh huh huh). We did a chili oil rub and salt and pepper crust in a cast iron. We had steaks so you can only cook about 10-12 seconds per side and edge else you will have grey over cooked tuna instead of purplely blissful flesh. I woke up wanting fresh corn salsa to go with the tuna so I dug around YouTube and found somebody’s aggravating pantry, but the idea was solid. The house I was at didn’t have sharp enough knives so it took longer than it should have, but that’s like 15 minutes instead of 5 to chop shit.
So here goes:
2 limes Half bunch of cilantro 2 avocados 1 large tomato that is preferably heirloom for taste A few scallions/green onions 1 Serrano pepper with seeds (or 2 without) 2 ears of fresh corn Coarse Salt Coarse pepper Cayenne Red wine or other quality vinegar
Standing each ear of corn in a bowl, cut the kernels off the corn and use the backside of your knife to get some of the milk from what’s left. Don’t go all the way to the cob when you cut as it’s bitter. Zest both limes into the corn. Dice the tomatoes, chop the cilantro, juice the limes, cube the avocados (cut 4 slits crosswise each way while still in their skin) and cut about a half cup of the green part of your scallions. Using a spoon, stir all the ingredients together and add a healthy amount of cracked black pepper, course salt, some dried cayenne along with a teaspoon or two of the vinegar and toss. Taste and adjust and it should be bank. We added a poblano as well because I like poblanos.
So it turned out to be pretty great of a fresh salsa recipe, and I’d give it a solid 8. but I felt like you could fuck with it pretty easily and add whatever you wanted to change it up. Pineapples, sweet citrus fruits, mangoes, habanero peppers, black beans, or different types of onions to get whatever you wanted to go for. Also because everything is fresh, if you use garlic, you want it super fine

on sunday night i was punching up some jar marinara sauce. i put five cloves of garlic in there.
later that night i woke up and my neck was sweating and it smelled like garlic, like the garlic was coming out of my neck. i went back to sleep but the next morning ALL DAY i felt swampy and stinky and smelled garlic all the time. at home last night i found out melody felt the same way all day, like just a stinky mess (although nobody said we stunk). and today I still smell garlic on my fingers and upper lip.

The oldest of my offspring munched like 6 or 7 heads at his first crawfish boil. We had to throw him out of the room every time he walked in for several days. I'm sure the microbials and shit inside you don't like it because it probably kills them in superstar fashion. You need garlic in a lot of shit, but too much is too much.
Also, jar sauce pretty much sucks. It'll do in a pinch (like Sal and Judy's or something), but it's too easy to make your own with fresh tomatoes. There are ways to microwave them so you don't even have to work at peeling the skin off.
McDonald's is debuting a new chicken sandwich meant to compete directly with Chick-fil-a and Popeye's, using Houston and Knoxville as test markets.
Last time I ate McDonald's, I was in Gretna in maybe 2014 or 2015 doing some Christmas shopping trying to find a lone Xbox One I think. I ordered their Southern Style Chicken Sandwich and bit in. There was a grease bubble between the smeat and skin that exploded in my mouth /phrasing, and burned the shit out of my entire mouth. I should have sued the fuck out of them, but I lumped it. I hate them anyway

garlic press least favorite kitchen utensil/appliance to use/clean, no contest.
Lol. I’ve had good meals in Houston and Buffalo. I’m giving it to us on a per capita basis. While it’s possible to get a bad meal here, it’s a pretty big exception.
Woofing down a Bahn Mi from Bahn Mi Boys minus the aioli. Got some big fat pork and shrimp spring rolls. Bo, Ga, Tom are the only Vietnamese words I know.
We aren’t doing any crazy Christmas cooking and aren’t really celebrating until Friday. But we were gonna eat some pancakes tomorrow for breakfast and I tried a blueberry sauce with lemon sugar water and corn starch. I think I used too much water and had to cook it off a long time. It also could be sweeter, but that’s not a negative for me. It’s super thick but I feel like heating it up should make it more liquidy.
