Yeahhhh I'm not driving two hours to TX state leg-approved Lockhart to get barbecue. This guy absolutely knows what he's doing. He's been featured in Texas Monthly, if it helps. Slings that shit out of a trailer in an Ace Hardware parking lot. It's already a twenty minute drive, which annoys me.
Never been to Lockhart, though.
Ok just got updated on some gossip about this fellow and I'll talk about it later.
All of Black’s, Smitty’s and Kreuz Market rule. We typically hit all of them on a given day and just stock up on different shit each may have. I’ve been there 8 or 9 times over the years on a recommendation of someone in Austin who said him and his dad growing up would just drive to all the different bbq places in Hill Country. Kreuz smoked prime rib is a favorite of mine when they have it.
I almost bought gnocchi yesterday at a weekly farmer's market but chickened out at the last minute and decided to get my wife's opinion since they had so many flavors. Going back next week.

What do they sell gnocchi for you to quick boil or is it already cooked and you just stir in whatever you want? I have heard it's easy to make (like potatoes egg and flour w/ maybe some baking ingredients or salt), but I've never tried to do it.
I'm just trying some recipes with some half-ripe ones I got out of the garden before frost.
I got a lot of frozen ones. I'll let you know when I get good at it.
that's fair, I just like unique hot sauces. I'm tired of grocery store heat. Meet in the middle and at least let me pay for shipping? Lol
Edit: I'm mostly interested in the pineapple one, sounds delicious
I'm cool with sending some. Just want to make sure it's good and the recipe is safe for canning. Should be but I don't want to send it and it rot or something.
There's a company out of Chattanooga called Hoff's that has a fantastic ghost pepper sauce, fyi. It's getting pretty big. They might actually have it in stores near you now? If not it's a good one to try.

Serving counter for some rice/quinoa bowls we had tonight in Florida. I grilled this past weekend and ended up with some shitty pork chops that looked good in the package and some shitty beef which also looked good in the packet. But I was mostly grilling hamburgers so I said fuck it, I'll pound these motherfuckers out and marinate them in ginger, soy, ponzu, garlic and honey and figure out something to do with them and just stuck them in the freezer. We ended up deciding to keep the Asian theme but do it a bit alternative - like a cross between rice bowls and poke. So this is jasmine rice, quinoa and spring mix as the beds, umami mushrooms which were sauteed with garlic and soy and some Iron Chef (c) garlic and sesame dressing, the grilled pork chops also drizzled with some of the Iron Chef dressing sauce and sesame seeds, tomato, avocado, roasted corn, roasted red bell pepper and jalapenos, fresh pineapple, cucumber and garbanzo beans/chickpeas. We finished our bowls off with sambal, sesame oil, sesame seeds and soy.
Fairly healthy and this was pretty damn good. Unfortunately I didn't have any butter at the crib because I had to dump everything out of the refrigerator after Hurricane Sandy, and this was the first time I've been back. So the rice and quinoa could have used a little pat of butter each to fluff them and add flavor. Otherwise, I'm always liking good and healthy shit. But I'm a motherfucker that would sit down and eat a 2 pound steak. And since I'm getting too old for that, it's probably better to just eat a couple ounces of meat with all the other shit that's better for you.
made some veggie chili tonight and my first recipe from claire saffitz' new book, her loaded cornbread (minus the bacon). delicious and easy enough to repeat for thanksgiving.

So my extremely low-effort family is probably getting takeout from Cracker Barrel or something for Thanksgiving lol. If that's the case, I might as well just get whatever. Probably blackened catfish. Idk if those Crackers do a green bean casserole, but I figure I can at least do that at home.

We ordered a small Honeybaked Ham for our Thanksgiving. I think we’re going to make up some cornbread a couple days before so we can make dressing. Also mashed potatoes and broccoli casserole. It’s just me and my husband so it’s way too much food, but it’ll get eaten eventually. Not sure about dessert. I promised to make eclairs for his birthday next weekend so probably something easy for Thanksgiving.

Or maybe I'll just get Chinese food.
Haha. That’s lame. I think I ate Cracker Barrel maybe twice. I never hated it or anything but that was like 20 or 30 years ago. But if they’re going to do takeout, would it maybe be more thanksgiving to order prepared turkey/protein and dishes from HEB, Randall’s or Whole Foods Fresh Market or whatever.
I told my sister I was boycotting Thanksgiving, so we will probably rotisserie up some shit and cook sides back at the crib.
I'm not cooking a turkey for just thejeremy and me. I'll just cook dinner. 🤷♀️
My niece wants me to go to her in-laws who live down the street from me. I'm not going in nobody's home, to eat fucking dinner, with other people that are outside that household also. Fuck that. I'm sorry, I'm not looking to get the rona.

Oh yeah, and Chinese food on Christmas sometimes.
It might not be Cracker Barrel, but that was the name I heard. I can probably steer it toward something good, because they probably care less than I do.
Cracker Barrel is kind of OK food-wise, I guess. I just don't like the kitschiness of it, which I don't suppose matters if it's takeout. I did go there with my grandparents last year and got blackened catfish and felt good about eating relatively healthy there, because so much stuff is fried and starchy.
