Evan Williams black is best taste:price ratio, hands down. It's basically a Tennessee whiskey. In my life I drank more Evan Williams than any other whiskey, and it's still my go-to.
Jack single barrel is definitely good whiskey, imo. They still know what they're doing. but I generally go buffalo trace or Woodford at the price point. Jack and George dickel are both really good whiskeys, but they suffer from popularity leading to over price.
Elmer t. Lee single batch is one of my favorites when I feel like splurging, which isn't often.
Eagle rare is good. I like it and my dad loves it. Generally what I drank on holidays when I visited TN, and now that I moved back. But ultimately I'd end up buying something else probably.
Beam is too sweet, imo. I'll drink it when I'm tryna get quacked up, but a beam and coke tastes like diabetes.

When I moved to Arizona I got into drinking tequila, and a good anejo from a bourbon barrel is amazing. A local distillery in Tempe bought a shiz ton of beam and jack barrels and made some amazing tequilas (and gins!). Most whiskey distillery have to use barrels once and then get new ones. Those restrictions don't exist for tequila (there are rules, but aging is different) and a charcoal tequila is amazing. I'm back down south now, but I went from "tequila shots only to get quacked up" to "tequila is the best liquor (except for gin)"
Julienned some up for Sicilian styles pizza from a local bakery that had pepperoni, mushrooms and roasted red peppers. Hadta throw some fire roasted hatch on that mfer, and while I was at it, some torn fresh basil. Looked like it was going to be bready, but it crisped up great.
Just made a roostertail and dug into my dad's liquor cabinet and saw the Elijah Craig. Good shiz.

I can’t drink Jack or Jameson’s. I mean towards the bourbons. Michter’s, Jefferson’s Ocean, Heavens Door, four roses small batch, or even Bulleit Rye can all be nice to sip on the rocks and all can sometimes be found on sale at somewhat reasonable prices. I can’t afford the elite stuff unless I catch a friendly generous bartender from time to time.
My wife shared office space with this dude when she was finishing her Masters. He graduated and needed a place to crash for a week bc his lease ended and his new one, in a different city, didn't start for ~7 days or so. My wife and the kids were out of town (bc she'd just graduated too and went on vacay -i had to work). Anyway, I spent 7 days with a vegetarian, teetotaler Indian dude I'd never met. It was fun as hell. He was not familiar with American pop culture so we spent the week getting high and watching Harold and Kumar and other stoner shiz and cooking Indian food together.
He came back to town and took us to dinner a few months later and gave us "what the guy at the liquor store suggested" as a thank you gift - some Johnny walker blue. Lol, first (and probably only) trip to the liquor store for that dude lol. It's very good, saving the last for when my wife finishes her PhD in December. I'm not a scotch drinker at all though, and honestly I've had some bourbons that are much better (imo) for way, way, less. But compared to Dewar's (the scotch my uncles drink, and what I'm most familiar with) it's streets ahead.

bulliet is my go-to rye; Im not a huge rye person so maybe im basic but when i want a manhattan, sazerac or Vieux (vieux carre) i go for the bulliet. usually when i buy a bottle of rye we end up drinking it all during the night.

If it burns try dropping 3 ice cubes in it. Let it sit or take very small sips. After four or five minutes it will be much better. What other drink can sometimes be better when watered down just a wee bit? I know the purists like it neat but I love 3 cubes in mine. A buddy told me a story about being in Scotland and a friend of his ordered a Scotch and Coke. That wasn’t well received.
We all know about the eternal battle between Team Pancakes and Team Waffles. Meanwhile, the ladyfriend is one half of Team Crepes.
Team Crepes is a weird, small, yet proud group. Ladyfriend says that crepes can't be made out of a box, therefore it's better.
I really love french toast. 🤷♀️ But crepes are pretty fucking good. After the bull run in Nola, I usually get a Nutella banana bacon crepe. Talk about drool worthy.
I'm 100% team breakfast. I'll eat all of it, no judgement or disappointment. I just want carby breakfast foods.
I took French in high school, and every year we would have a crepe day where we would just make crepes in class and everyone would bring in strawberries or Nutella or some other crepe topping. One year I ate a shiz ton of crepes, like 27 if I'm remembering correctly. Enough so that my French teacher brought me a trophy declaring me the "maitre des crepes". I still have that trophy too (Me, my wife, and kids are living with my parents and sister while my house gets painted/fixed, and I found a bunch of my old shiz in a box on the attic- and about 2k worth of amps, pedals, and random gear I never moved to AZ).
Visited my parents yesterday and my dad made a lasagna with bechamel sauce instead of ricotta. Best lasagna I’ve ever had. Sorry to all the ricotta lovers but the haters won this one!!
