I know we have nothing to go off of, but I always listen to my coach. I would never act without their permission especially if it hurt our chances to win.
I think you're voting for me now to get rid of me without a whack, not because you think I'm mafia
Ask a veteran you trust. There's not always a "coach". There's usually not a "coach". I'm voting for you because you're making blatantly false statements and grasping at any theory you can get your fingers around.
Note: If you think I'm mafia, of course you think I'm trying get rid of you without a whack, because that's what mafia does. Also, if I'm mafia, you're a horrible target. Several people have hinted that you're likely town.
As has been pointed out to me numerous times, voting based on emotion and defensiveness hurts town. And that's what you're doing.
Taking a shit so checking in but have to agree, Kanye is all over the place but feels townish.
My initial reaction to the Jaz whack is that it was a diversion. If Jaz was Inspector, then he was absysmal and would be shocked if he ended up as inspector, Jaz / Pablo and I basically did this when we were Mafia together a couple games ago.
Combine the abrupt change by JR about Potent, and it gives me a tingling sensation down my leg.

It's not emotions or defensiveness. It's the dishonesty. If you're a townie, saying I'm confident when I clearly stated I'm not doesn't make sense. Much like Old ZIG used to do. He was wrong too, BTW. No offense New ZIG.

I'm about halfway through my read, but I'd really like to hear something from agarr. He's already been tagged recently so I'm not necessarily gonna @ him again, and I get that he's new, but if he's not going to contribute he's going to make the game harder for Town at best and could be silent Mafia at worst.
I consider this a bit of a side note now that we have a whack to go off of, but I want to point out that if anyone needs to be called out for inactivity, it is Cookin' Mama .
Before I posted this, I did one more read through of only his posts to make sure I'm not off base, and it confirmed that all of JTR's posts are absolute garbage. No contribution of his own, just a soft echo of what I said about Kanye being Town, an agreement that the Jaz whack could implicate Potent, Pablo or Zig but it was less likely implicating Dan or myself (obvious), and then maybe 6 other posts of pure fluff.
I've noticed his inactivity during each of my re-reads, but I kind of passed it off as "ahh he's one of the new players so it's cool." But he's been Inspector before. No more excuses. It's not cool. JTR you are either mafia or absolutely worthless Town.
agarrr24 I think you deserve attention for this as well if you continue playing the same way. It's your first game, but it is Round 2 now and you delivered the kill shot last round. I pegged you as someone who would get super into a game like this. By now you could have read a couple prior games and I know you are capable of contributing more. I am not suspicious of your inactivity on Day 1 (outside of the switch) because I felt totally lost as well. I am just saying that I expect you to get more involved moving forward.
I know the vets have wanted to take it light on new players to keep them interested, but this is coming from a new player (newer than JTR). They are equally likely to be mafia, so there is no way we can give them a Day 2 pass.
Yo my bad for inactivity. Honestly I'm not fully caught up at this point. I've been skimming things as they've been posted, but I haven't had enough time to really dig into things. I'll try to catch up later on tonight so I can contribute more and make a more educated vote.

Yeah the criticism of my participation is mostly fair and definitely warranted. Like Kanye said I've got a new job and couple that with school this is the first bit of free time I've gotten since Sunday before I went to work. But that doesn't really matter.
JTR > Kanye
Kanye mentions that Carini might think he's inspector out of no where. Then again later on he mentions he might be whacked because mafia might think he's inspector. Initially when I read these things it didn't sit right with me, and after my read through it doesn't now. Him latching onto different theories and things people have said throughout the whole game has been unsettling as well. In potent's dying words he mentioned that there was probably a 2-1 split on him and pablo of mafia members from the last round and that he suspected Kanye was the one on himself. I don't consider that evidence per se but I think it's something to keep in mind.
In regards to the Jaz whack, I think we should entertain the idea that it was a diversion. If he were inspector, framing Pablo or Potent feels like it'd be a bit too on the nose. The things that have been pointed out with how it could implicate Zig or Danbob feel really weak to me and not like an inspector leaving bread crumbs.

LOL fuck me. At first I was thinking about doing a fluff / worthwhile post ratio to go along with the count, but I realized that my opinion on that may not have been that useful to the group.

I'm good with the other names with votes, btw. I got more of a Town read on Carini than anyone else in D1. I can see the whack pointing to Dan. Something weird to me about Kanye being "obviously Town" according to himself and Jake. Between JR and ZIG there is a lot of noise, and they might both be getting ahead of themselves a bit, but I'm agreeing with ZIG moreso than JR. I'd like to hear more from JTR and Agarr, especially Agarr. They are fairly unknown to me.
Welp, I was tired of feeling hella behind in here and so I put the books aside to read through this thing a little more in depth. I have observations, and some thoughts, but honestly I'm not too sure how to interpret things - in part because I don't know everyone's usual style of play that well (have only skimmed old games). But, yeah.
- First off, question: Why is it that several people think Kanye is "towny"? The only compelling argument I've seen was Jortles noting how early in the game Kanye posted, assuming his typical form and suggesting there's no way he could have consulted fellow mafia before posting for the first time. But to me, I could easily see him just posting before touching base with fellow mafia, citing that he was just "trying to be himself" as an explanation (I feel like that'd be acceptable to me, but idk). What I have seen is that Kanye has been the most blatant in his efforts to distance himself from mafia association (e.g., "maybe someday " in reference to him playing in the first place b/c he wanted to be mafia, or him claiming he thought he'd get whacked). It's seemed sincere, but still. That's suspicious to me.
- Another person whose caught my attention is Danbob. When votes (several, I believe) were taken off of him pretty rapidly on D1, he didn't have anything to say. He did cite that he was just having a busy weekend later on, which is fair. But, upon returning to play, he also immediately attributed the heightened level of general activity/switches to mafia involvement. I'm guessing that's a valid assumption, but in this way, he subtly distanced himself from being interpreted as mafia.
- I also thought Kanye/Danbob's back-and-forth interaction was interesting a couple pages back (or it mighta just been the last page). Admittedly, it's probably nothing, but it'd be funny if they were just staging that to deter us from associating them as a team.
- Last, as has been discussed, JR's immediate suggestion that mafia could have thought Jaz was inspector stuck out. I don't have much to add on that, though.
So, right now, I'm between those 3 (Kanye, Dan, JR) for my vote. But, again, I really am not all the way settled in yet and would appreciate some help/opinions in interpreting all of this.

Jaz is quiet on Day 1 as a normal townie. Jaz is quiet on Day 1 as mafia. Jaz wasn't quiet on Day 1 in this game. I thought MAYBE he was Inspector long before he died because of it. So, apparently, did mafia. Of course, that would not have been good info to share before he died. I actually have doubted myself since because I doubt he would have stuck his neck out the way he did as Inspector.

I tend to agree with this rationale regarding Jaz's style on this D1. I don't know that it was any certain thing that he said, but maybe just the odd playstyle for Jaz that got him whacked. Hopefully Mafia were wrong about that and Jaz was actively trying to portray himself that way, or maybe even he just felt like getting more involved early just because, but this is the sense I'm getting as well.
But still, if he was Inspector, he probably did leave a breadcrumb or two.

See I feel like this would be the exact path of thought that mafia could have underwent, though.
After ultimately deciding - "no, he wouldn't have put himself out so much that early if he had such an important role", they could have just fallen back on "well, we have no better guesses, worst case we'd be whacking someone whose good at this shit". Then suggested that one person in mafia (JR in this hypothetical) calls attention to the potential mafia logic so as to deter people from thinking that person is himself mafia.
Honestly, I'm not necessarily confident in all of this. But as far as I can tell, this game is about working with what's in front of you. This is what I see. I also realize I am proposing your "think like the mafia" language is incriminating while I am myself using the same language. Again, it's what I got. The speed at which you jumped on it is really what sticks out, tbh.
