So, the timing of his comments of confidence that Jaz was inspector and Potent was mafia is strange especially since he didn't come up with a theory or anything afterward. He just said two VERY strong thoughts and then dipped.
Jaz wasn’t quite his usual day 1 self. He usually doesn’t say much on day 1. I suspect they thought he was inspector. I suspected it a little as well. I hope we were all wrong.
Watching TV right now. I’ll do a reread in the morning.
Where, exactly, are you reading confidence? I have very little confidence in either of those statements. And you added caps and italics to emphasize my supposed, but obviously absent, confidence. I'm not going to give you a theory about why I have slight inklings, because I don't want to advocate chasing red herrings. Are you framing me, mis-remembering my comments, or did I say something I don't recall saying?
My notes on my reread, focusing on Jaz's whack, because regardless of what others may think, the whack warrants inspection, whether we find what we're looking for or not.
This seems to be Jaz's thinking as the game progressed (some of these are somewhat open to interpretation):
ZIG creates unnecessary self imposed limits in regards to his voting. (There was a little bit of back and forth that Jaz disengaged himself from)
Explained to JTR that 1/10 mafia on D1 isn't bad.
Noted that Potent and Kanye moved from Danbob to Jaz.
A little pushback on Kanye for calling Potent townish.
Potent/Pablo was a good runoff.
Kanye seemed more townish than Potent or Pablo.
Pablo was conspicuously quiet.
Potent supported a strategy that Jaz felt was pro-mafia.
A lot of vote changes in a short amount of time is usually suspicious, but less so in this game than others.
Now for the Jaz related votes...
D1R1, Jaz's first vote was on Pablo, creating a Dan/Pablo 2 stack
Before too long, Potent would take Dan out and put Jaz in. (Note, Potent always starts on Dan)
D1R2, first move is Kanye stacking Jaz ahead.
Potent unstacks Jaz and puts Pablo in. (Note, Potent didn't need to move, and if he was mafia suspecting Jaz as Inspector, I don't think this move would have happened.)
Dan puts Jaz back in the runoff.
Potent then points out to Dan that he does not think Jaz is mafia.
Pablo then stacks Jaz, but retracts it when he realizes it was already tied up.
Kanye then puts Jaz back ahead.
On D1R3, Carini stacked Jaz ahead first thing, but Kanye took him out and boosted Pablo.

I never got around to that re-read last night, yall. My bad. I just called into work because I'm feeling pretty gross right now, so I'll have some time to get to it in the next few hours.
How do you have a town read on Potent one the first runoff of the first day?
Is it possible that if Jaz was inspector his given name was Potent? If so, maybe that was why he noted that Potent and I switched off of Dan to him? That could be him trying to trying to make a connection with a possible Potent mafia teammate. However, it is super rare to get mafia lynched on day 1 and I don't know if it is worthwhile to read into a storyline where potent is mafia.
I am also not going to read to into Jaz attacking Zig early on with how he voted. I think Jaz is smarter than attacking a given name that early and was just trying to point out a flaw in his vote.
So now to Danbob, Jaz made jokes with Dan about his hat maybe to be friendly to him so Dan might look the other way? This was followed by him noting that Potent and I had moved to him off of Dan.
Noting that Potent and Kanye have now both taken votes off of Danbob and have ended up on me.
I already mentioned that he could have had potent as his given name and was trying to connect the dots. But what if Dan was his given name, and he was trying to figure out Dan mafia temmates?
There's the obvious campaign that Jaz ran to get a Pablo/Potent Runoff. Although Jaz never really directly called out Pablo which would be smart to do if Pablo was his given name. Anytime he mentioned Pablo he threw in Potent's name, potentially trying to hide the fact he had one of their names? Jaz also mentioned that vote switching meant mafia movement in his opinion: This would implicate me, Pablo, and Carini as we moved the most amount of votes.
Did you miss the post from a couple days ago where I said I preferred a Pablo/Potent in the runoff and drew potential lines between you two? And then how people were wary of me saying that, and then how multiple players referenced me getting the runoff I wanted? I feel like that's been one of the more noticeable storylines of this game so far. Check out my posts if you want a recap. My thoughts haven't evolved much on the idea since then.
This was the only time he directly responded to Pablo, and I notice that he says that people were quick to deny his theory essentially. The first person to question it was Dan. Or at the very least, Dan was the one that Jaz responded to.
I think we should try for a Pablo/Dan runoff if we are going from who Jaz possibly implicated. ESPECIALLY after this quote from the dan man:
Time for my theory based on strategy and not on what Jaz said:
Someone that hasn't been noted is JR. He even stated himself before the whack that Jaz was more active than usual and that he even thought that Jaz was inspector. He also backed this up by saying that he suspects potent was mafia/out of character. Both of these came very quickly after the whack. I think that this can be viewed as JR trying to throw town into looking into what Jaz said too much, and also try to make us think that Potent was mafia-thus drawing us off his back, at least for a round. This is going to sound narcissistic but that is not my intention: Last game, I mentioned that if town always read into the whack as mafia thinking he was inspector then it would be SUPER easy to manipulate. So, the timing of his comments of confidence that Jaz was inspector and Potent was mafia is strange especially since he didn't come up with a theory or anything afterward. He just said two VERY strong thoughts and then dipped. I think it is a very viable strategy to throw off town by making us read into Jaz comments, and that is very well what he could be doing. Curious to hear what other people think about this one.
I mean I don’t see how you can say Jaz was hinting me. He mentioned me once before everything got crazy. He didn’t even cast further suspicion when I posted the quote you think means I should be in the runoff. Yeah in hindsight I was wrong, but that’s the game.
I never got around to that re-read last night, yall. My bad. I just called into work because I'm feeling pretty gross right now, so I'll have some time to get to it in the next few hours.
At the risk of sounding like I'm trying to make allies. From the time I noticed you weren't participating much to the time I called you dead weight, you had contributed more than I'd realized at the time. This is in no way me claiming your town or mafia, but I can admit when I was wrong.

I consider this a bit of a side note now that we have a whack to go off of, but I want to point out that if anyone needs to be called out for inactivity, it is Cookin' Mama.
Before I posted this, I did one more read through of only his posts to make sure I'm not off base, and it confirmed that all of JTR's posts are absolute garbage. No contribution of his own, just a soft echo of what I said about Kanye being Town, an agreement that the Jaz whack could implicate Potent, Pablo or Zig but it was less likely implicating Dan or myself (obvious), and then maybe 6 other posts of pure fluff.
I've noticed his inactivity during each of my re-reads, but I kind of passed it off as "ahh he's one of the new players so it's cool." But he's been Inspector before. No more excuses. It's not cool. JTR you are either mafia or absolutely worthless Town.
agarrr24 I think you deserve attention for this as well if you continue playing the same way. It's your first game, but it is Round 2 now and you delivered the kill shot last round. I pegged you as someone who would get super into a game like this. By now you could have read a couple prior games and I know you are capable of contributing more. I am not suspicious of your inactivity on Day 1 (outside of the switch) because I felt totally lost as well. I am just saying that I expect you to get more involved moving forward.
I know the vets have wanted to take it light on new players to keep them interested, but this is coming from a new player (newer than JTR). They are equally likely to be mafia, so there is no way we can give them a Day 2 pass.

The definition of confidence clearly conflicts with the words that came out my mouth.
con·fi·dence /ˈkänfədəns/ noun - the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust. - the state of feeling certain about the truth of something. - a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities.
I asked before, are you framing me, mis-remembering my comments, or did I say something I don't recall saying? It's clear it's neither of the second two.
You're painting a blatantly false picture of me. I want to say mafia wouldn't do that and you must be an extremely daft townie, but why would a townie make obviously false accusations like you're doing? I have a hard time convincing myself anything other than you're a noob mafia. I'm still looking for clues about you or others, but this is the best lead I have.

I honestly thought the same about JTR and Agarrr. Town or mafia, it's no fun on the sidelines anyway.

Imagine getting caught up in semantics after calling me out for saying I have a town read early on. Maybe you weren't confident but it is still a very bold statement

JR > Kanye
Can you please read my defense of Kanye as Town and respond to it? It's near the bottom of the last page.

I am also suspicious of how quiet JTR is especially after being inspector last time. But I also do know that he has been at work every single day since thursday because he got a new job. His hours have been pretty crazy too so I'm not really looking too much into it. Maybe he can respond
Kanye: I am very convinced that Kanye is town. To expand on what I was being shady about last round, I think that Kanye's first game as mafia will be noticeable because he will calm down a bit. His future mafia coaches would be best suited to say something like, "Kanye - you do you and go in there like a wrecking ball with no regard for how your actions could implicate you." And that would have had to have happened IMMEDIATELY. Because Kanye voted within 2 minutes of the game being posted... with a photo. I think even if his future coaches ask him to just be himself, he will at least take the time to ask questions in the very beginning about what moves could make him suspicious. Is it smart to vote a certain way in round 1 etc. He also made a blunder, again, during the switch flurry of putting Pablo up to 4. He does something like this every game, and now that I've laid this out he will surely try to act like this when he finally is mafia. He mentioned that he often gets whacked or lynched... its because he plays so carelessly, and he plays like that because he doesn't yet understand how important it is to stay alive and not implicate yourself.
Beyond that, I want to recall when I switched off of JTR last game. I did so because only 1 vote in the next round was going to matter if I didn't. When I made that switch, it made it so all three votes mattered. However, that vote came back to bite me once I was revealed as mafia because Jaz smartly pointed out that it meant that I didn't care who ended up lynched. Which was absolutely true. And that proved Tainted was Town.
Fast forward to this game and we are in the exact same predicament. In order to get 3 meaningful votes in the next round, we needed someone to move from Jaz to Pablo. There is no fucking way that Mafia would do this after it came back to bite me last game. I put this idea out there in this thread and nobody answered me. I was pretty annoyed that nobody entertained this idea and I almost said something like "yeah of course there is no way mafia would switch because they learned from my blunder last game." I had that typed in and ready to post but I thought better of it because then Mafia might switch to prove to me that they are Town. I didn't end up saying anything though, and of course, good ole Kanye did switch from Jaz to Pablo. His reasoning wasn't even that we get the 2 extra meaningful votes, but I think if he was mafia, he would have been counseled against this move because of what happened literally the game before.
There are different ways mafia chat goes when there's a new player in there...
My first game, Mafia 81, I was mafia with Carini and Thor. Thor was the bird. Carini was a little more helpful, but that's not always the case, and I don't think he ever specifically told me what to do or not do, more general tips.
I do acknowledge your paragraph here about meaningful votes, but that doesn't absolve him of being mafia. It's very possible, if he's mafia, that he's not getting coached or he's acting before the coaches give input.
TLDR; I still think Kanye could be mafia, but I don't say that with confidence.

Ask a veteran you trust. There's not always a "coach". There's usually not a "coach". I'm voting for you because you're making blatantly false statements and grasping at any theory you can get your fingers around.
Note: If you think I'm mafia, of course you think I'm trying get rid of you without a whack, because that's what mafia does. Also, if I'm mafia, you're a horrible target. Several people have hinted that you're likely town.

Why on earth would mafia had made that switch from Jaz to Pablo? To save who they thought was inspector AND make the foolish mistake that I made just last game?
In the end, I liked the fireworks from Day 1. I voted Pablo because I want to keep at least one familiar face involved. So I'm ok with Kanye remaining in play. I just think you are choosing the clearly less likely one to be mafia. And your reasoning is basically because you don't like that he launched a theory against you. That sort of reactive voting on Day 2 is irrational and strays our focus from the implications of the whack.
