How do you have a town read on Potent one the first runoff of the first day?
Because he's the only one giving ideas and acting like a townie
Because he's the only one in the runoff still that is genuinely trying to push likely mafia people into the runoff. I.e. people without votes. Plus he's also one the biggest contributers
And even my vote for danbob at the beginning was just a meme lol
Stop grasping at straws
Aren’t you grasping at straws when you say you have a town read on potent? How is there even enough info to say that? Not saying I’m suspicious of him or you, I just don’t understand how you are that confident in round two of him.

I just don't have a mafia read idk. I know for a fact people were saying they had town reads last game
Now that votes are gonna cast, I'm gonna openly advocate for a Potent/Pablo runoff. Kanye so far appears the most townie-ish to me, plus Pablo took his vote off of Potent and put it onto Kanye. Pablo's also been conspicuously quiet, and Potent quickly latched onto Kanye's idea of putting someone without votes into the runoff, which would make sense if he was Mafia and he and/or a teammate was about to go forward. Otherwise he's barely added anything to the conversation other than talk about numbers/percentages in a 4- vs 5-way runoff. Doesn't help that he's voting for me and I know I'm town, but that's just the usual townie paranoia.
How is it bad for me to say I have a town read on potent and then you turn around and say I seem like a townie?
I'm saying that you're the most townie-ish out of the three people in the runoff who aren't me. And my reasoning is based on your interactions with Potent. I'm more suspicious of him than you, and I don't think you're both working together.

But yeah I think Pablo/Potent is a good runoff.
This is kind of an interesting post. Not that I’m opposed to Pablo/potent but I feel like this could be you trying to slip out here.

I don't agree with this characterization. First of all, I switched my vote to you because you had no votes until ZIG made the last original vote of the first round. Second, I said "this is why who gets no votes matters" and then Kanye said "so maybe we should switch". And I said sure, which is something I was interested in last game as well.
Wouldn't more on the runoff mean more of a chance of getting someone who is in mafia in the runoff though? I definitely see your point of view.
It is day one though so I guess it's really hard to get a read on people anyway so it isn't like it would matter
A random generation of 4 people in the game is likely to nab something like 1.3 mafia members. I don't know what it would be like to add a 5th.
This is why who doesn't get D1R1 votes matters as well. We know mafia are voting with more knowledge than townies, so those without votes could be lucky townies but could also be mafia members that are being purposely avoided.
I won't even call myself suspicious at this point, but the counterpoint to Kanye saying Potent is being helpful, I found it noteworthy this morning that 3 new/newer players were advocating shuffling things around. Potent supported it while me, Jaz and ZIG all said why it wasn't necessarily a good idea. It doesn't even seem out of character for Potent, but it doesn't seem to be "genuinely trying to push likely mafia people into the runoff" as Kanye said.

That's completely valid. The fact that I'm in the runoff will naturally garner criticisms of self-preservation but frankly I'm interested in self-preservation regardless of my role. However I think there are reasons to look at Pablo/Potent regardless of whether or not I'm in the runoff with them. Do with that what you will.

Okay so jortles, jr, agarr, and carini don't have votes on them. Would it be wise to try push one of them?
My noting of you putting your vote onto me both is and was separate from me saying you latched onto Kanye's idea. Not sure why you're bringing that up.
Regardless, it's the first round, and you know as well as I do that we have little to work off of. What I have to work with is me voting for Pablo and holding my vote there, eventually followed by Pablo taking his vote off of you, soon followed by you voting for me. Surely I don't have to explain to you how those things combined could lead to me exploring whether or not Pablo and Potent are Mafia trying to smoke out potential Inspector Jaz, right?

On potentpotables: Have you factored in that he had his little mid-life mafia crisis last game after Jaz got in his head? Obviously, he can't just use that excuse for every move he makes going forward, but I just wanted to remind you that he's either genuinely trying to shake things up more often than he historically has, or he is hiding behind that story-line.
On Jaz request: I think it's weird that he's so sold on that runoff at this point, but I like that he is trying to put something together. It does worry me that he, or one of the other vets, is recognizing that we have 3-4 impressionable, new players in here to where they could orchestrate a move like that on Day 1.

Just kidding. Your points are valid and I'm glad you're thinking critically.
Actually your points about me hold more weight than they do about Potent IMO. While I may have gotten in his head a little last game, Potent has intentionally tried to play different every game since he first started playing, so that no one would be able to tell when he was or wasn't playing like his usual Townie self.

To be fair, I haven't read back beyond 2 games ago, so I must have interpreted that whole thing from last game incorrectly. I thought he was known for laying back and chillin', so he was like fuck this I want to shake things up more often and come out of my shell.

Here's the exchange between me and Kanye.

I was referring to my vote to counter your notion of me latching onto Kanye's idea. I didn't latch onto anything. I was explaining how it was actually my idea.
