Haha. This thread should be fun. And people are certainly encouraged to voice their opinions. But any serious discussion isn't "so and so is best" without some proof other than "because I said so." I think I proved out that Thomas is the best receiver of all times after their first 3 years. It's inarguable except if someone wants to be stubborn. Whether or not he has a long and healthy enough career to get into the conversation of all time career best at the position remains to be seen.
As for Kamara. Of course that's homerism. It's next to impossible to compare him to any so-called bell cow back, because we generally only run him 15 times or less per game. His ability to go limp at the point of contact, absorb the hit and shift his balance to another part of his body is unique in the 50 years I've watched football. I think he could be a 3 down back, but again, it's not Payton's history to utilize a primary back.

There's more. He's got matrix mode.
I’m having fun! And Evans is better because I said so:)
Truly an honor to be memorialized every time someone looks up "Who had the best catch rate compared to the rest of his team over a 3 year period while earning a non-guaranteed $200K workout bonus in 2024"

I've only watched football consistently for the past couple of years, and I never played it, so I realize my opinion is next to worthless.... but I think Michael Thomas is the best wide receiver in the league ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Like this contributes anything except to say you don’t have shit? The record is for the the most catches ever after year 1, the most catches ever after year 2 and the most catches ever after year 3 which is where he’s at in his career.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the difference between Michael Thomas and the other elite WRs being mentioned (AB, Julio, OBJ, Hopkins) is that he doesn't run as many vertical routes so he doesn't get as many huge plays right? But he's like a cheat code on 3rd down. It feels like every time the Saints are at 3rd & 10+ everyone know's they're going to Michael Thomas and there's nothing other teams can do to stop it.

He's probably not on the same level as the elite elite guys like OBJ, Hopkins, etc, but I think Amari Cooper is somewhat underrated thanks to his time in Oakland and that he's a gamechanger for the Cowboys.
I was worried we made another dumb Joey Galloway-type trade for him, but we probably wouldn't have made the playoffs without him, and if we had had him all season last year, we likely wouldn't have started the year at 3-4 and could have had a better seed in the playoffs. Looking forward to seeing what he and Dak can do this year.

Your last sentence could be about Hopkins. So could the he catches everything and goes for every ball, Every ball is his.

That's fair.
I just looked it up, and Michael Thomas does have the lowest yards per reception out of that group of elite WRs. So maybe my perception that he gets shorter passes is right.

Probably. Hopkins doesn't have great speed either, but somehow he's still a deep threat.
lol. Mocking it or not doesn’t take away from the historical significance of an all time record within the only time he has had to set it. When he shatters Landry’s 4 year catch record in the middle of this season, you can thank me again for spotting you that important heads up.
He’s got several more. The 2018 WR catch rate of 85.5% was the best since NFL started tracking it in 2001 and you know anything before that. There’s the 28 catches in the first two games of the season which had never been done. Etc.
There’s the 2018 season record for catching 21-22 in 1 score 4Q and OT games.
For any other doubters or haters, there’s always the 2018 1st Team All Pro which pretty much goes to the best wide receiver.

Do you think if Hopkins played for the Saints he wouldn't do as well as Michael Thomas is doing?

I think he'd do better, because he already out performs him scoring tds and getting yards, which are the most important things. Put him with a better qb, on a better team and this wouldn't even be a question.
I don’t know. I love Hopkins, and he’d have better stats personally. Every wide receiver is automatically better with Brees because he has the best completion percentage of all time. He set a new record last year, and he owns 4 of the top 5 seasons ever. Brees to Thomas 2018 outranked Brees to the whole team 85.5% to 74.4%.
To your point about shorter yards per reception, you are right. But as I have been arguing, when you factor Thomas’ completion percentage, the yards per target puts him up way higher on the list and ultimately your determinate factor for how successful a given pass play to him will be (9.4 yards I think was 2018)

Everyone ought to know the most about players and teams they follow the most. I don’t think Thomas is the best because I follow the Saints if you’re inferring that. It’s because of proof through stats, achievements and records. Obviously you disagree. Lots of people on this forum do too. The football press who get paid for their opinions voted him All Pro. That’s top 1. I’m sure other receivers got a few votes. So there is always room for disagreement to a point.

Remember that one year David Boston took a shit ton of steroids and was like 250 lbs built like a linebacker, ran a 4.40 and just steamrolled over everyone? That was a fun season.
