In this week's segment of, "How great is Michael Thomas?" - he's now caught 77.5% of passes thrown his way during his entire career. No other WR in history has ever achieved 71%. Larry Fitzgerald is 63.9, Antonio Brown is 65.5%, Julio is 63.7, Deandre is 59.1, OBJ is 62.4 and AJ Green is 58.7. Tyreek Hill comes the closest in terms of active receivers, and he's at 68.8. Wes Welker ended his career at 70.8%. There are a couple of running backs who are charting higher (Leveon Bell at 79% and Alvin Kamara at 79.7%) <-- Reference Saints Super Forum
It's a good stat but "thrown his way" doesn't account for if those passes were good or not. For example, I'm sure the likes of Arizona Cardinals Hall of Fame QBs Ryan Lindley, Kevin Kolb, John Skelton, Max Hall, etc weren't throwing Fitzgerald dimes every time.
Brees is indeed the most accurate quarterback in the history of the NFL. So I understand that. But Thomas' catch ratio in the three games with Bridgewater is 5 percentage points higher than with Brees (82.5% vs. 77.5%).

What's his average depth of reception?
Will answer my own question. In 2019, Thomas average target depth is 9 yards, good for #74 amongst receivers. Average separation of 1.24 yards, good for #68 amongst receivers. Seems to explain that high catch rate, even with a 3.6% drop rate (good enough for #60 amongst receivers).
Nuk isn't having a Nuk type year. Not sure why. Staying on topic.
I think Watson struggled some of the last few games before getting his shit together last week. On top of that, Hopkins is the weapon that I think a lot of teams try to limit. Obviously Fuller is emerging as a serious threat, so with teams having to contend with that, perhaps Hopkins' stats will go back up.

Their offensive line has struggled. Watson is great when he has time. Last game he had all day to throw and hit Fuller a lot. Another game he was going to Stills a lot. I'm sure Nuk will show up when they need him.

Those catch rate stats really illuminate how amazing Larry Fitzgerald is to me. According to my research, here are the QBs who have started games for the Cardinals since picking Larry #3 overall:
Josh McCown - 19 Shaun King - 2 John Navarre - 1 Kurt Warner - 57 Matt Leinart - 17 Derek Anderson - 9 John Skelton - 17 Max Hall - 3 Kevin Kolb - 14 Ryan Lindley - 6 Brian Hoyer - 1 Carson Palmer - 60 Drew Stanton - 13 Blaine Gabbert - 5 Josh Rosen - 13 Kyler Murray - 5
Only 5 of those guys were first round picks, including the last 4 of the last 5 (though two weren't picked by the Cardinals).
506 Sports has the Football Maps out for this week's games. We get lots of duds beginning with Giants v. Patriots tonight. On Sunday, our area gets Saints @ Jaguars early and then Dallas @ Jets and San Francisco at the Rams @ 3:00pm. That's the only good game. Sunday Night Football is Pittsburgh @ L.A. Chargers, and Monday Night is Detroit at Green Bay. There's also a Sunday Morning Game on NFL Network between the Panthers and Bucs if anyone is up at 8:30am. 506sports.com/nfl.php?yr=2019&wk=6
Add whatever caveat you want to add since I'm a nominal Steeler fan. But this Steelers defense has been pretty great since adding Minkah, and it's tons of fun to watch. TJ Watt is a straight up stud, but guys like Heyward and Stephon Tuitt have been getting after the QB as well. Steven Nelson has been a big addition at CB and is playing great, and Minkah has made a ton of plays, and Joe Haden is still Joe Haden. Devin Bush is crazy athletic, watch the interception he made last week as proof of that.
The offense has been miserable, but the defense is fun to watch, something worth watching Sunday night.

Only Murray and Palmer are the notable first round picks. Warner is the only other respectable QB on that list. We really don’t deserve Larry.

No caveats. It's just that they're 1-4. Obviously the Steelers played Seattle, San Francisco and Baltimore tough. They got bashed by the Patriots and blew out the hapless Bengals a couple weeks ago. Chargers are 2-3 and really haven't looked particularly inspiring the last few games. They beat up the Dolphins, and that's about the extent of any optimism since the OT win in opening week.

The Patriots are in a class of their own over the past 20 years no doubt, but you can't ignore that they have had three lame duck teams in their division pretty much the entire 20 year stretch. When was the last time any of the Dolphins, Bills or Jets were truly a threat? Bills are creeping up recently but nobody is confusing them as a true contender, at least yet. The Rex Ryan Jets had that awesome defense for a period like ten years ago, I guess that would be the last time.

While it certainly supports their dominance in the division, they kick everyone else’s ass too. And to Dave’s point, they play KC, Dallas and Philly and one more bills game. But you could see them making 13-3 or 14-2 pretty easily.
Where's that guy who was saying that the Patriots don't get an inordinate amount of calls in their favor all the damn time? Lol Buddy got thrown well out of bounds well after the play was over... but it's a penalty on the Giants?

I think where it makes the most difference is in seeding. The Patriots really haven't been challenged for their division for 20 years, aside from the Rex Ryan years I mentioned. Because no team in their division is usually even coming close to winning double digit games, the Pats are eyeing up a first round bye while most teams in the AFC (Steelers, Chiefs, Chargers, etc.) are fighting just to win their own division. If that makes sense.
Yeah it makes sense. The first goal of any season is to win the division. Having 5-6 gimmes helps. 2 top division winners get the bye, so yeah. But they also beat everyone else which also smooths out the path.

The Bills and Pats have a fairly promising schedule left.
The Bills still have Miami twice, Washington (in Buffalo) , Denver (in Buffalo), at Pittsburgh with ? at QB, the Jets (in Buffalo). They could certainly collapse in one or more of those games but if the first five games aren't a mirage those should all be wins. That would put them at 10-1 with games left at Philly (in Buffalo), at Cleveland, at Cowboys (on Thanksgiving), Baltimore (in Buffalo) and in New England in week 16 when they may have nothing to win for. They might be able to pull a couple of wins out of that, too.
You know what the best thing about tomorrow's early morning Bucs against the Panthers game from London is? It’s that one of those piece of shit teams is going to lose.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
