No doubt. Like I said to you earlier this weekend, I feel like the Browns are on the up and up overall. It looks pretty likely that you guys will play a 3rd place schedule so 2020 should be something like
and then either the Chargers, Broncos or Raiders depending on who finishes 3rd. Based on 2019 results so far, playing the AFC South and NFC East and a 3rd place schedule isn't the hardest path to competing for the playoffs.
Thank you for your optimistic takes. Our fan base can be so negative sometimes.
To get everyone excited for their weekly brush with greatness when Michael Thomas takes the field this evening, consider that he is 59 catches behind Jarvis Landry's all time record of 481 catches in a WR's first 5 years. He's only playing in his 4th season. He's also only 22 catches behind Marvin Harrison's all time record of 143 catches in a season. Should he average 7.33 catches in the last 3 games, he will tie Harrison. Anything more and he takes the record. The only people ahead of him now are:
1. 143 - Marvin Harrison 2002 2. 136 - Antonio Brown 2015, Julio Jones 2015 4. 129 - Antonio Brown 2014
There was a lot of discussion on this forum earlier in the season about how DeAndre Hopkins was the best wide receiver in football. Relevant stats didn't convince people who had college and professional team biases. So where do we stand in 2019 between the #1 and #2 wide receivers in the game on all the major stats? Please note that Hopkins has played 14 games whereas Thomas has only played 13 so far.
Catches: Thomas: 121 Hopkins: 99
Targets: Thomas: 147 Hopkins: 141
Catch %: Thomas: 82.3% Hopkins: 70.2%
Yards Thomas: 1424 Hopkins: 1142
Yards per Reception: Thomas: 11.8 Hopkins 11.5
TD's: Thomas: 7 Hopkins: 7
Yards per Target: Thomas: 9.3 Hopkins: 8.1
Looks like a no-brainer to me. Edleman is a distant 3rd in most categories.
my only real counter is that Watson is getting sacked twice as much (not including pressures), and that by those own stats one WR is a greater threat to score and that's the whole game.

production =/= talent.
I'll give credit where credit is due, and MT's producing a historic rate. I'd still take Nuk. Then again, based off the receiver play I've been watching all year, maybe I'm not the best arbiter.
First and foremost, I'd like to see the Saints win tonight on MNF to keep the first round bye hopes alive. It'd be nice for the team to play an entertaining game for the national public and show off all the weapons.
But also I'm pumped for Brees to have the opportunity (again) to break an all-time career record on Monday Night Football like he did with the all-time yardage record. He needs 2 touchdowns to tie Manning's record, and he needs three to break it.

It’s fair. But what id day is that you guys were hurting when Fuller went down more than we do with just one threat. However I agree with the pressure aspect. It’s also not just Brees v Watson since Teddy Bridgewater was the QB in 6 of our 12 games. He’s not as accurate obviously though Thomas has a higher catch ratio with Teddy B for some reason

If you really think there is a measurable way to judge and compare talent, and that goes for sang and Jim who liked your post as well, I’m all ears. It’s pure speculation vs actual on field work. I’m going to have to go ahead and pick reality as the objective measure vs hyperspeculative comparisons that may or may not be right.

in the case of Harrison v Moss, one caught a significant number more balls playing for the greatest QB of all time, and the other played for the Raiders for a brief time and still amassed more yards and tds.
hopkins has more td's. end of the day number of tds > number of catches, and a TD catch is generally significantly higher and requires more natural talent like getting feet in bounds while falling and reaching out than being in position to make catches thrown by really really good qbs.

yeah that hurt.
that was also always andre's problem and why he never had a 10 td season despite everything else, just double him in the 20s and let someone else beat you (they didn't)

Also some fair points. But he’s been playing 3 years longer. So it’s 54/30 at this point there. Cross multiplied out it would probably be something like 54/49 or so. That’s about a wash just like the 7 vs 7 is in 2019.
Looks like Moss has 28 more games so that explains the yards of not all the TDs
i will throuroughly challenge that he fully participated in all 28 games in oakland lol
**17 TDS AS A ROOKIE. 17. <<<< that's talent
I love Moss. I feel like Harrison is also in the GOAT conversation and may have been the only one to challenge some of what Jerry Rice and Larry Fitz have accomplished had he played a bit longer. Marshall was an interesting school back then putting out colorful characters like Moss and Jason Williams

ND couldn't handle the swag.
i will say that Moss is probably one of my favorite players of all time. i just loved watching him play.
lmao also forgot he was on the titans (only time i saw him play live) and i'd also say that was barely a season as well. *shit forgot he was on the 9ers too.
Saints claim Jenkins off waivers. Good pickup for a playoff run.
Yeah he fucked up with that Tweet. I understand because it’s a term that I’ve heard from other people since I was a kid, used it a while back and got rightfully hit for it. It was never a downs thing to me, just a term. And what’s kind of odd is that we don’t use the “r” word anymore. Hopefully he will learn from his mistake as I have and be a little more respectful of those who are sensitive to it.

did someone say rookie talent?
Have him in dynasty. All aboard. I think hes got a lot of qualities that will separate him from other young guys. I was telling my friend the other day this could've been Johnny if he had any poise or humility.

Kyler will be great and has flown under the radar a bit. He’s been iffy the last couple weeks with silly turnovers though.

He was such a fun player to watch. He had some amazing runs that the browns didn’t know how to handle at all.
