Biography: Beach House is a dream pop duo from Baltimore, MD. They formed the band in 2004 after they met in Baltimore's indie rock scene. Their song "Apple Orchard" was included in a Pitchfork mixtape back in 2006, when they released their self-titled debut. Their major breakthrough was 2010's "Teen Dream" and after 2012's "Bloom" they became quite popular.

Suggested Listening

I'd start with Bloom, followed by Teen Dream. If you want more dreamy stuff, I'd go and listen to their first two albums. If you want more indie rock, almost shoegazey stuff, I'd try Depression Cherry and 7. If you want somewhere in between, I'd suggest Thank Your Lucky Stars. Physical Reaction/Live Show

I've seen Beach House seven times in five different cities (Istanbul, NYC, Pittsburgh, New Haven, LA), and they were all great (and much different from each other) performances. I'll be seeing them soon at Just Like Heaven fest as well. Clearly, I'm a huge fan and they are one of my favorite bands. The first time I saw them was in a music festival called Rock'n Coke in Istanbul and they were touring after Teen Dream. I had only heard of their names before, and I remember being very impressed when I accidentally stopped by the tent they were playing. After that performance, I started listening to them more often, then Bloom came out in 2012, the year I moved to the US. That album has a huge impact on me and I had to see them again. The next time I could see them was when they played Gov Ball in 2013 (if you remember, it was a very muddy year). Unfortunately, their performance was cut abruptly due to very heavy rain and I remember being very disappointed. Then I had to wait until 2015 when they started touring Depression Cherry. In 2016, they had a short tour (called Installation show) where they played their early material as a duo (they have an additional drummer in their regular tours) in a very intimate setting, and I was lucky enough to be able to see them in NYC. The last time I saw them was last year in Hollywood Cemetery, and it was one of the most magical environments that you could see them playing their songs. Long story short, they are a very good band live (although Alex's performance can be hit or miss sometimes), and they're most likely play a night set in Bonnaroo. I'm not going this year, but I would definitely catch them if I did.
