Kinda weird that it's moving to Petco Park next year. I wonder if they'll have a larger or smaller capacity, and how many stages they'll do and with what layout.

Larger capacity easily and they could add a stage. Placing it in the city just give them a higher likelihood of a sellout and the city benefits from hotels/restaurants and the like. No nfl team to draw prospective attendees away from that weekend and of course no baseball.

Only one day to tear down seems awfully short, right?

The Union Tribune says the fest will be held in and around Petco Park, so yes, easily add capacity and stages if they want to. I wonder if they'll have any stage on the baseball field, as three days of people tromping around on it would seem to cause damage to the grass that would take awhile to repair and the Padres have a home game the Tuesday after the fest's Sunday finale.
It's kind of crazy that the Kaaboo organizers obviously let the UT know about the change on Saturday but totally blindsided the Del Mar Fairgrounds/Race Track CEO, at least according to his quote:
Del Mar Racetrack and fairgrounds CEO Tim Fennell sounded taken aback and surprised about the move when reached by phone mid-Sunday afternoon while he was attending KAABOO Del Mar. “If that’s the case, I’d like to hear it from (them),” Fennell said. “Maybe we can convince them otherwise. We’d love to have them stay in Del Mar. I think the KAABOO brand is part of Del Mar.”

You would be amazed at how fast stages and lighting can be taken down. The minute one of those stages goes dark, itll start to cone down.
The Padres seemed to be offering more money, and with their losses from the caymans and Dallas they need the cash. And if theres a stage on the field you cover it up like you would for any other concert.
"In May, KAABOO Texas made its debut at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It was presented in partnership with the Jerry Jones family, which owns the stadium and the Dallas Cowboys football team.
Attendance was so low that no 2020 date for the festival has been announced, and Felts last week told the Union-Tribune it was unclear if the Texas festival would resume."
Oh dang it. Can confirm low attendance. Which is odd cause I saw the kaabootexas instagram still active recently...
And now I just checked and they deleted the entire account!!! Wow.
Guess they're putting all their eggs in the PetcoPark basket now.
I was just coming over here to ask if anyone had heard any rumblings for KAABOO Texas 2020. Guess this answers the question. Sucks cause they signed a 10-year deal with Jerry and the stadium.
“Fairgrounds chief executive Tim Fennell declined a formal interview, but pointed to language in the Fairgrounds' contract with KAABOO that blocks the festival from holding a similar event within a 75-mile radius the year it cancels the contract.”
