having joined in 2016 what kept you from heading to bonnaroo before?
It’s crazy actually, I’ve bought pre sale tickets for the past 2 years but didn’t attend, the U2 year I missed due to not having enough vacation to do Roo-Firefly- EForest. Last year I thought the lineup was a little too simular to Firefly the year before so I bailed after lineup announcement.

More people have posted that they are going to see Cardi B than Jim James and Brandi Carlisle combined...this hurts
Jim James has been around a lot longer and is up against John Prine and before The National. I would be surprised if most people here haven't seen him in some capacity already. He's also at Shaky Knees this year. Cardi B is much newer, has some really solid production and isn't up against much. I'm a big MMJ/Yim Yames fan but I'm seeing Cardi and not him.

Yeah I'd be at Jim James but I want to pit for The National. Also I'm seeing him at Shaky Knees so that helps. I think I have Brandi on my schedule but she's not a must see.
More people have posted that they are going to see Cardi B than Jim James and Brandi Carlisle combined...this hurts

I understand. I haven't seen him in any capacity before so I can't miss the chance, and I'm sure Cardi will put on a hell of a show, I just can't get into her music.
However more people have Cardi B scheduled than Mac Demarco who directly overlaps with her. I mean I've never really seen anyone going crazy over Mac Demarco on this board, but given the choice it's interesting more people here would rather see Cardi B.

Might be another similar situation to the Jim James thing where people have had more time/opportunities to see him play.

I like Mac, and will miss him, but its worth saying that his show on the Coachella stream was a huge mess. Minutes of a time at silence, just noodling vocally or on guitar before actually playing a song. For a 50 minute time slot, it left a lot to be desired

Jim james has competition in his time slot. And i just get no enjoyment listening to brandi carlile. Sign me up for Cardi all day.
Mmj is my fav band, but Prine is very rare for me. I’ve been trying and haven’t been able to see him. I’ve seen Jim twice on his most recent tour, and have 3 more chances to see him outside of Roo and I’m doing both nights of red rocks, so i’m Going to with Prine at least to start, but might end up splitting. Last time I had this debacle with Wilco and Jim and I split and honestly wished I’d stayed at Wilco. Wilco was fucking on it but Jim was playing essentially the same show id seen him play a month prior.

Most mac shows I’ve seen have been very fucking good. The first time I saw him I couldn’t believe how much energy the show had. And the second time was even more insane. He jumped off the balcony into the crowd, and the whole band came out for the encore and absolutely tore through “Enter Sandman”. Surprisingly good stuff. I’ll also never forget Mac on The Who stage doing the screaming version of “Black Bird” lol

No idea if it's in the same location still but back when Silent Disco was far back in Which field we used to go in there and not even use the headphones just to get shade for early afternoon sets. Cymande from back there was a lot of fun!

From what I heard recently, you'll have plenty of chances to see Jim James solo going forward. Same person told me the few MMJ shows this year will likely be the last ones for a long while.
