It would be great if anyone could offer any feedback based on previous experience...I have friends in Franklin (outside of Nashville, near Murfreesboro), and was wondering how much of a hassle is it to drive in and out of the show each day? In other words, would it typically take more than an hour to get in and park once hitting Manchester and more than an hour to get out at night? Also, I know there are VIP buses that run from the hotels in Murfreesboro...does anyone know if it is possible to hop a ride on those buses back and forth each day? Any help with these questions would be a big help!! Thanks!!
Seriously, dont do it. With absolutely no traffic it takes about an hour to get to Franklin from here. But the traffic getting in and out will be your worst enemy.
Once the festival starts the traffic on I24 isnt too bad. But if you leave you'll miss part of the roo experience. Especially if you plan on la\eaving after the headliners. The late shows ARE Bonnaroo.

yeah there's no way i would want to miss out on the late shows. does the camping experience really wild, crowded, anything like that, or is it all smooth sailing?
camping is good and quiets down if you do day parking on thursday you will not be allowed to leave until sometime friday morning. come camp and enjoy the true roo experience
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo
Also, I know there are IP buses that run from the hotels in Murfreesboro...does anyone know if it is possible to hop a ride on those buses back and forth each day?
I'm heavily presuming this will require you to flash a VIP bracelet, if in fact it is a VIP bus.

I am doing day parking again this year after doing it last year with no problem. I drove in from Nashville each day around 11am and left anywhere from 2 - 4am. The only traffic I experienced was on Sunday night leaving the grounds. I did not however go on Thursday because they do not let you leave, so I'm not sure how I will handle that this year.
I personally love it because I can sleep in my own bed and take a shower. I hate camping, and at 40 years old, I really am not interested in the "whole experience" anymore. I was doing that at Dead shows 20 years ago and I need my sleep now more than I need to party!
I did it last year with my 2 kids and it worked fine. We stayed in Murfreesboro and would drive in to arrive each day around noon and never had any long waits to get in. Getting out wasn't a problem at all except for a pretty long wait Sunday night. The drive back each night pretty much sucked tho and this year we're camping.

Yep the drive home in the middle of the night after a long day in the sun is pretty brutal (it's about an hour for me), but I would rather that than have to camp.

We did the day trip thing our first year (2006) and didn't feel like we missed the Bonnaroo experience -- once you are over 40 or so, you've already had "the experience", so to speak. However, last year we tried the VIP thing and liked it a whole lot more than day tripping. It's nice to have a spot, near Centeroo, to retire to during the day. Also, the nights are cool, so if you bring a comfy air mattress and big old comforter, you are just as snugg as in a bed. We took a few showers each day to keep the dust and funk off and it was fine. Plus, the VIP tent is air conditioned and a nice place to hang out and read a book or nap during the day (not super cold, but dark and a bit less humid). Finally, the mature friends you meet in VIP have a great "treats" and are really willing to share. Stay on site, my friend, you'll enjoy the vibe. See you there!
