I wish I was a fucking idiot like the rest of my family. They're happy like a pig rolling in it's own shit. They must be loving the fact we're going to fascism and cruelty.
I know too much, I seen too much. I know the horror we're about to get. We all do. How do you all have the will to live with this?

Kind of doing a wait and see. What's interesting about this election is that a lot happens all the time. Who knows, Biden could tear it up at the next debate. Trump could drop dead. Lots can happen, and it is important to remember that Trump has only gotten more unpopular since he left office. If he does win though I'll look into options for moving back to Asia.
Research may be fuzzy but I think the last time one party controlled all 3 branches of government was the Dems when FDR was president. Republicans are very well set up to take all 3 in November. Trump is not the person you want in charge with all that power.
Obama had a trifecta.
He didn't have the Supreme Court. I don't think there's been a liberal court since the Warren court - like 1967 or 1972 or some shit like that in the way past.

Teflon don.
I really think a break from social media is needed because I can't think about this shit without it just spiraling into worse thoughts and feelings about where it's all going.
And again, I expect Biden and the Dems to do nothing to change any of this before November. I don't think any packing of courts or any hail Mary type moves are coming. I think they expect to win in November no matter what and will continue to just kick the can down the line. We'll deal with this and all the other problems in this country down the line, amirite?

Oh hey, immediate consequences to the bullshit.
Even if it doesn't really make sense cuz he wasn't president during Stormy shit it still will muddy waters and become a new talking point and add to the chaos
Yes, respect the limits of power. Keep them nice and clean for when the GOP decide to shit all over everything
jfc the democratic party leaders seriously don't give a fuck.
it really feels like they rather have Trump win over any dem that isn't Biden/Clinton/Obama aka establishment bourgeoisie conservative libs.
I've only been able to vote in 2 presidential elections at this point but holy shit, even me who is very politically active almost dosent even want to vote this year. imagine how your average voter feels this year.
only reason I'm voting at this point is bc I'm a POC so at least I'm not helping people that actively want me dead

Given the conservative movement to absolutely destroy environmental regulatory power, they kind of want us all dead.
As for not wanting to vote...I don't care how you slice it, the two parties are not the same. Even an as-establishment-as-possible Democratic President would not appoint more conservative judges to the Supreme Court. This is what made me tear my hair out about the "Hillary and Trump are practically the same" position in 2016. Hillary was not my preferred candidate by any stretch, but we would not have Justices Kavanaugh, Barrett, or Gorsuch had she won, and all of these absolutely horrible, directly-impacting-tons-of-real-lives Supreme Court decisions would not be happening. The idea of even more conservative appointees should be enough for anyone who cares about literally anything to get to the ballot box, hold their nose, and vote.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

The number one reason to vote is and has always been the Supreme Court. The GOP recognized this 50 years ago and made it their entire mission. If people in the center or left don't realize it at this point, they need to wake the fuck up.
If we'd have a liberal majority in the Supreme Court, Biden would've gotten so much more good shit through. And it's the number one safeguard against a Trump-type.
Also if Biden does drop out the only realistic alternative is Harris. She's the only candidate who would legally be able to spend the millions of dollars Biden's has raised and in some good news she is polling better than Biden against Trump in a new CNN poll. www.cnn.com/2024/07/02/politics/cnn-poll-post-debate/index.html

That would suck bc she's more conservative then Biden and shes very pro cop but at least she's not old and if she has a better chance at winning I'd take her over Biden.

Harris was by far my least favorite major player in the last primary and I dread the notion of Dems going into the 2028 election without a primary if she were the nominee and wins this year. Also I think generally a terrible politician. I wouldn't feel notably better with her as the nominee.
The best solution I've seen proposed - IF Biden were to drop out, which I don't see happening - is for the Dems to hold a rapid series of debates between a handful of potential candidates and let the delegates decide after that.
I'm comfortable with Harris. She's a far better messenger on abortion which Biden is never comfortable talking about. Had she been in that debate on Thursday she would have destroyed Trump.

Biden's campaign could give all of the money to the DNC and let them effectively spend it for the nominee though; the money's not that big of a deal IMO.
Newsome if for no other reason he is good looking and not obscenely old, and people vote based on that. Plus he's a white man and moderates love that. He seems establishment enough for the DNC too

That's not what I read. Also the optics of passing over a black women who currently serves as VP for a white governor- senator would be awful.

Yeah, campaigns can donate unlimited funds to local, state, or national political party committees like the DNC or DSCC. They're limited to $2k sent to another federal candidate.
I'd worry a bit more about the optics if Kamala were particularly popular among black voters or had won them over in the last primary. Her approval rating there is a full 25 points lower than Obama even at his lowest, and lower than Biden. I think worrying about the optics more than worrying about having the strongest candidate would be a mistake.

Newsome too vulnerable. Mainstream media narrative is that California is a god forsaken wasteland that people are desperately moving away from. Doesn't matter if it's true, it's what's being fed to people and that certainly won't court centralist swing state voters.
If Biden were to drop, there would need to be a primary if there were any shred of hope in defeating Trump. Centralists won't vote for anyone that wasn't nominated in a democratic process. Delay the election by a month or 6 weeks if you have to, but it's what would need to be done. Just throwing someone up on stage saying "it's going to be this guy, deal with it" will piss off and alienate too many voters.

There's no mechanism legally to delay the election. A primary is not happening.
