Feels like the media is just pushing the narrative of Biden stepping down for the sake of chaos
This x1,000. The memos must've gone out yesterday, cuz that's ALL the news is talking about today. Nothing truly changed from yesterday to today...They want us to be in a panic, and some of these news sources (although appearing neutral or liberal) are straight up loving the drama and/or are even owned by MAGA fuckers.
Dangerous times, but the masses need to stay the course.
i mean.. to be fair, biden is in absolutely horrible condition and my grandfather was more lucid and well spoken than him when he was 81. but of course if a memo of an ally telling him to drop out leaks its gonna be huge news lol
Anyway, Biden undermined the entire Democratic message of Trump being an existential threat to democracy tonight. He's a liability and they absolutely need to get him out of there.
If he doesn't drop out by next week I expect lots of elected Democrats to call on him to do so. Currently it's only four Democratic members of Congress but that interview did help his cause at all.

Not nearly good enough.
This is enough to put me over the edge. He needs to drop out.

Warner is evidently collecting senators to try to make this happen, or at least try
If he’s on the ballot in Louisiana, and if Biden is the Democratic candidate, I’m voting RFK jr. My vote in Louisiana is as meaningless as my vote would be in California. If Biden drops out, I’d at least consider Kamala but not likely voting for her. I’d definitely consider any other alternative. I’d vote for Whitmer and very likely vote for Newsom.
If you live in a state with Democratic congressional/senate representation, consider taking 30-45 mins to let them know (phone call, a few sentences in an email) that now is the time to play backroom politics and leverage their roles as superdelegates to pick a qualified+charismatic+competent+<60 y/o candidate as Joe Biden's successor. The DNC is August 19th. A lot can happen between now and then.

If I DM you my legal name, will you vote for me instead of RFK Jr?

Time for the DNC superdelegates to take the keys away from grandpa and reset the gerontocracy. If you've got a state/federal Democratic representative (handy lookup tool) take <30 mins to email/call them to let them know now is the time to make big moves and PICK a qualified+charismatic+competent+<60 y/o candidate to succeed Joe Biden at the convention. They are more likely to consider your constituent opinion than any Republican office holder.
Lol is he stupid? Snowden, I mean. I know RFKjr has brain worms and was recently accused of eating a dog and sexually harassing a babysitter.
He's been living in Russia for too long.
Or Putin/FSB have essentially rendered him an indentured servant, hanging the threat of deportation unless he does a bit of social media election diversion in addition to his based critique on CIA/NSA intel overreach.
I really, REALLY hope the nominee commits to having a real primary next time around.
To be clear, there was a Democratic primary election held for the 2024 POTUS nomination. The problem is the elections were held anywhere from 1-6 months ago, and anyone with a solid chance of superseding Biden didn't run. You can write in someone's name, but you can't force them to put their name on the ballot even if they have the financial means and organization to do so.
Ideally the primary election would be held across all 50 states no more than 30 days prior to the party's nominating convention. Ideally we should have a lot of things.
Newsome if for no other reason he is good looking and not obscenely old, and people vote based on that. Plus he's a white man and moderates love that. He seems establishment enough for the DNC too
Newsome too vulnerable. Mainstream media narrative is that California is a god forsaken wasteland that people are desperately moving away from. Doesn't matter if it's true, it's what's being fed to people and that certainly won't court centralist swing state voters.
If Biden were to drop, there would need to be a primary if there were any shred of hope in defeating Trump. Centralists won't vote for anyone that wasn't nominated in a democratic process. Delay the election by a month or 6 weeks if you have to, but it's what would need to be done. Just throwing someone up on stage saying "it's going to be this guy, deal with it" will piss off and alienate too many voters.
Put Newsome in a debate with Trump. Would bet $20 that its outcome would win over a solid bloc of apathetic/RFK teetering left-of-center voters, AND place the issue of gerontocracy entirely in Trumps diapered up lap.
California shit talk doesn't make up for the fact that the state's economy (the most populous in the country) ranks the 5th largest in the world, behind Japan (4th) and after India (6th).
Newsome didn't run in the Democratic POTUS primary elections earlier this year because it would've come off as opportunistic and damaged his political reputation. If he put his hat in the ring tomorrow he'd be seen as a savior by pretty much everyone who posts on this thread.
Considering the state of the GOP in 2024, what do Democrats have to lose??

Idk what’s some of your favorite conspiracy theories?

Just don't vote for President. That would be better than voting for a monster like RFK Jr.
