Manufacturing consent....
The media is going to ruin us. It doesn't matter who the nom ends up being. I'm just saying, these people are dipshits.
Forgot to mention the GOP ad at the end. Some red scare crap that warned that socialism = the Khmer Rouge. Complete with a pic of AOC catching fire. Fuck yeah, ABC!

Were we watching the same debate as those "news outlets?" I for one, did NOT see Biden win that debate,
Marianne Williamson Materializes On Stage in a Cloud of Purple Smoke with Message that DNC Polling Requirements are No Match for Power of Positive Thinking
HOUSTON—Startling the 10 candidates who qualified to participate in the event, Marianne Williamson materialized on the debate stage in a puff of purple smoke Thursday, proclaiming the Democratic National Committee’s polling requirements were no match for the power of positive thinking. “The DNC thinks I need to get at least 2% in four qualifying polls, but they think so small,” said the author and presidential hopeful, who announced that by unlocking a deep and powerful mental space at the core of her being, she could participate in the debate at Texas Southern University despite having failed to meet the “narrow-minded” threshold set by party leaders. “By avoiding all negative thoughts and putting mind over matter, I have been able to transcend mere material concerns such as poll numbers. While I don’t have the necessary support of voters, I do have something far more valuable: a profound belief in the oneness of all living things.” At press time, sources confirmed a podium of pure light had sprung up before Williamson as she began to answer a question from George Stephanopoulos about how she would respond as president to an economy on the brink of recession.
I think that Beto did the most to help himself last night.
I'm not saying that he's in my top five but at least he didn't look like a guy who just got ambushed by a local investigative news team outside of his workplace. (It was a low bar for improvement for him.)
Not an awesome night for Biden, Sanders or Harris, IMO.
My top three (Bernie, Warren, Castro) remains unchanged.
I think Booker did well last night. Mayor Pete was ok. Beto didn't seem to do much last night, not that it matters since he's only had a personality for the last six weeks. It shouldn't take a terrorist attack in your hometown to light a fire in you.
Biden is clearly sunsetting, which is a problem - and yet I find Klobuchar far more irritating than him. Those two and Harris are my least favorite three.
I know this gonna trigger Jortles, but the Jacobin article saying Yang is the Ross Perot for millennials is accurate.

Biden being a corporate whore plus his mental health instability may be the sign of people taking advantage and doing whatever they want behind the scenes. Kinda like Reagan's last couple years.

Beto knows he can't win so he's going to go down being honest as fuck. I like it.

Will anything even happen to the guy who threatened Beto? I'm so fucking tired of politicians and other rich fucks just getting away with everything. Its just so blatant now and nobody is being held accountable

He should be put in jail and have his guns confiscated for that. As all those motherfuckers should. Steve Benen of Maddow Blog had a piece on it today. Many members of the right wing media are apparently going all in on this shit. They should all lose their guns if they have any. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/texas-gop-rep-tells-beto-orourke-my-ar-ready-you

Im assuming this question is rhetorical. We all know the answer.
what ever happened with Gaetz witness intimidation tweet to Cohen? I saw a lot of stuff about Florida possibly disbarring him but I don't think anything really came of it.
A ban on flavored e-cigarettes could cost Trump a second term. Census data and a state-by-state analysis of the prevalence of adult vaping published in the Annals of American Medicine in 2016 suggest vapers vote and could threaten to derail Trump's reelection campaign.
Voters in at-most 12 states with an adult population of 79 million will determine the outcome of the presidential election next year. These states include Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Georgia, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Maine, Arizona, and Nevada. Based on the most recently available FDA-funded survey data, 4.15 million adults in these states use electronic cigarettes. In 2016, 61.4% of the voting-age population voted. If that figure held true in 2020, roughly 2.55 million adults who vape would be voting in these important battleground states.
Trump won Michigan by under 11,000 votes in 2016, where there are 422,000 adult vapers. These staggering numbers play out in Florida where Trump won by 112,911 votes (with over 904,000 vapers), Wisconsin where Trump won by 22,748 votes (with at least 267,000 vapers), Minnesota where Clinton won by 44,765 votes (over 172,000 vapers), and Pennsylvania where Trump won by 44,292 votes (over 450,000 vapers).
It’s not hard to see how this well-organized vaping constituency could swing the outcome of the Electoral College one way or the other.
Internal national polling conducted in part by Americans for Tax Reform in October 2016, just five months after the Obama administration announced their own timeline for a de facto e-cigarette ban, found that 4 out of 5 adult vapers’ vote-moving issue was where a politician stood on the issue of taxing, regulating, and banning e-cigarettes. There aren’t just a significant number of vapers in important battleground states, but most of these consumers are voters on the basis of preserving access to e-cigarettes above all other political and policy issues before them.
i don't vape anymore but i'm a big proponent of anything under the umbrella of harm reduction, whether that be nicotine related like vaping or snus (which i do use), or opiate related like needle exchange programs or state administered opiates for addicts.

He got cleared by the FL Bar but they trashedhim for unprofessional and reckless behavior. Of course he doesn't give a shit.
Well, that opening speech from Harris was certainly surprising and funny just like the 1k dividend thing Yang (which I think is bullshit but whatever).
it's really not. Likly the most pointless debate yet. It's maybe worth looking at the insane shit Biden said just to remind yourself of how broken our political culture is.
Edit: Hell yes! Tom Steyer has qualified for the next debate so we have at least 11 people.
