I hope we get another debate or two, maybe a town hall. This election cycle needs a freakish swing-voter who gets cancelled immediately. COVID robbed us of a Ken Bone or Joe the Plumber in 2020.

The official debates haven't started yet. The last one was not sanctioned by the Commission on Presidential Debates and entirely spearheaded by CNN and the Biden campaign at the time.

True fucking story. T🩷 hit me up a while back as Ken Bone in my contacts. It’s mostly irrelevant except he forgot about that alias. Haha. 🩷🩷

There was apparently a big Secret Service presence in my wife’s friend’s neighborhood yesterday, and one of her neighbors was known to be a big donor to Vance’s Senate campaign. He is apparently making the rounds to drum up funds in Cincinnati this week. (He was also spotted shopping at Jungle Jim’s International Market. That place is overwhelming enough. I’d be so pissed if I had to deal with Secret Service on top of it.)
Upcoming Shows: 10/18 - Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit & Iris DeMent @ Ryman Auditorium 11/8 - Goose @ The Andrew J. Brady Center 11/13 - Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros w/ The Wolfpack & The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra @ Cincinnati Music Hall 2/14 - Alan Walker @ The Fillmore Detroit 4/15 - Ben Folds w/ The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra @ Cincinnati Music Hall

Its not like the Secret Service will make a difference anyway.

I know we live in divisive times but people really shouldn’t make up things about people just because they are abhorrent weasels. So please don’t take part in spreading the rumor that JD Vance talked about fucking his couch in a passage from Hillbilly Elegy. He most certainly didn’t fuck his couch. How would you like if nobody took you seriously and openly lied about you putting a latex glove between couch cushions and making love to it? Not so funny, huh?

JD Vance is a worse pick for VP than Kamala Harris is for president, which is really saying something.
Who should it have been if not Kamala Harris? Keeping in mind what passing over the Black woman first in line would have said to Black voters, particularly Black women, who are a crucial voting bloc.
No one other than Harris could have stepped in this late in game with just over 100 days to the election. If Biden would have dropped out earlier in the year then there would have been time for an mini primary or whatever. She's doing great so far and now we actually have a decent chance to beat Trump in November.

I was going to elaborate on this. She wouldn't win against an open primary. Nobody wanted her in 2020 and I doubt that's any different after the last 4 years. Anyway, I'll leave it at that.

I mean anyone was free to run against her when Biden dropped out on Sunday and every single one of her potential opponents endorsed her within 24 hours. Joe Biden ran two awful primary campaigns in 1988 and 2008 and won in 2020 so I wouldn't put much stock in her 2020 primary performance.

So, in a fantasy universe in which we can reverse the flow of time, she's a bad pick. It definitely makes sense to harp on that.

Fire away.
It's not only that, and she's energized (lol at the DEI candidate smears, those dumb racist mfers) the Democratic party and minorities in general who were maybe not giving much of a shit about Joe at this point. But it's got to do with the campaign coffers and staff that's already in place. Trump campaign, to no one's surprise, claims this is "illegal" and has filed a complaint with the FEC. The answer appears to be somewhat complicated though I'd lean on the fact that she was always part of the campaign for president - just in a different capacity.

Not sure how fair it even is to say people picked her given the situation. She’s just the only obvious alternative. A lot of this is just the limitations of the system and that sucks but iit is what it is. Hard to run a primary challenge without a war chest of like 100 million at least. So democracy is limited from the jump. Who even wants that hassle to potentially lose to incumbency? Not to mention a likely hostile media environment and party system. That one guy i can’t remember was all.
The system is frustrating but I don’t think it’s fair to say everyone is choosing her gladly because they have 100% faith. It was just the best option in the situation. And I mean that as a compliment. I don’t feel she’s a life changer but I feel much better with her than Biden.
It's not OK to call someone a bad candidate when they are one? Just because we can't make a correction at this point?
No, I mean, you can say whatever you want. I just feel like the context of actual reality is important, I guess. Like, sure, on an idealistic scale, she's not great...but we've never had a candidate in my lifetime who was. In the actual world we live in, who would've been better, even if we were able to have a mini-primary (and "better" here, to me, meaning "most electable")? Newsom? Whitmer? Buttigieg? Each of them brings their own baggage that I'd argue is on par with Harris'. Plus, again, I think the importance of not alienating Black voters can't be understated.
So, yeah, I dunno. I just don't know what would have been better, so it strikes me as odd to say it was a bad choice.
