The thing I find interesting about Buttigieg is his ability to adapt and speak compellingly on the absolute fly. Some of the other surrogates hone in on catch phrases - the whole “these guys are weird” thing for Walz, “stop shit talking America” for Shapiro, “he ain’t from here” and the “Vance has no convictions, his boss has 34” for Beshear - but everything Buttigieg says feels like it’s coming off the dome in real time, but just super eloquent and detailed. It’s nuts.
That said, while I think he’s great, I have zero faith in America electing a Black woman with a gay man as her running mate. I hate that, but the win is so important here that I don’t know if taking that chance is worth the risk.
Wouldn't a Harris Buttigieg ticket be really rough on the black vote as well?

Woke up at 4am and after 45 mins of failing to fall back asleep I succumbed to the doom scrolling on twitter. It truly is wild just how many fucking weirdos are thought leaders for the right.
Like who’s the most normal/rational main stream commentator pushing right wing ideas at this point? George Will? And he’s still very much a buffoon.

Some could argue Biden dropping out was "rough on the black vote". Or perhaps they were going to vote for Trump anyway?
Do you really think Harris will take a hit for having a plain-Jane gay white guy from the Midwest as VP? In this batshit political climate?
Now's the time for Dem's to make "big" moves. Whoever claims they wouldn't vote for Harris with Buttigieg on the ticket wasn't going to vote for Dems in the first place.

Buttegig for VP would be horrible. Are we forgetting he is a Mckinsey guy? They are borderline culty. Unfortunately I don't think America could handle a gay 2nd in command as much as I would disagree with that on principle.
Walz or Shaprio for me. Shapiro calling out Netanyahu is big imo

More just about both Harris' and Buttigieg's records prior to presidential runs. I remember it being a pretty big deal in 2019/2020 for both of them.

What else would you expect from Elon Musk's social media platform?
One day he's gonna deactivate the twitter.com URL and a lot of y'all are gonna freak.

Yeah she was a cop and he was too much of a nerd like Warren. Something like that.
Seems like a guy who very clearly demands you think he's smart ie not unpretentious at all.
JD Vance went to Yale Law. I do not care about the credentials.
:anti-intellectualism intensifies:
I agree that where you matriculated from isn't the end all and be all of one's character, but if what you're getting from his recent interviews is that he "Seems like a guy who very clearly demands you think he's smart" I'm not sure you're listening to what he has to say.

Yeah she was a cop and he was too much of a nerd like Warren. Something like that.
A lot of racial disparity on arrests while Buttigieg was mayor in South Bend. Something like 4.5x more likely for a black citizen to be arrested for marijuana than a white person. When pressed about it he dodged, as he often does with anything related to policy as opposed to "philosophy".
But yeah I don't really care much for him. Seems everyone likes him because he is young, gay, and a vet and not because he has really done all that much apart from being a charismatic person. When I lived abroad I met quite a few polyglots, several with the gift and gab and they were pretty much all pretentious douchebags.

Every candidate running for elected office is fundamentally a pretentious douchebag (even Bernie). Its kind of necessary for a job that involves working with other pretentious douchebags in the legislature. POTUS especially, since they have to deal with the pretentious douchebag heads of state of other nations.
You've gotta think rather highly of yourself to want to run for elected office.

I mean look, if he ends up being Harris' VP pick I'm still gonna vote for them. I just think that Shapiro, Kelly, and Walz are all safer and more accomplished choices. And if he ends up running and clinching the nomination in 2032 or whenever I'll still probably vote for him. I'm just not likely to vote for him in a primary unless everyone else is just like a big hell no.

Good thing we don't have to worry about the 2028 or 2032 elections anytime soon.
Sounds like Shapiro is gonna get the VP nod, and hopefully fate doesn't intervene again between now and November.

Well - at least it was all liberals calling out the weirdos, not just weirdos appearing on their own. Most of the weirdos were getting dunked on pretty hard, too. The algo clearly knows where I stand.
I had almost entirely gotten myself off twitter until a few months ago; at some point I'll wean myself back off. It is indeed the devil's platform in many ways.

I was really hoping journalists would migrate off twitter after musk bought it, but unfortunately they seem addicted. It was a great way to get news out fast, which is obviously why musk ruined it (with his saudi money)

It's wild that Threads still has not released a chronological feed of just people you follow. The one thing that twitter is essential for is breaking news and live updates as they occur, and Threads is unusable for that as it stands today. They built a twitter clone while skipping the one thing that differentiates twitter.

Well Zuck is trying to stay in trump's good graces in case he wins (and has already threatened him with jail), so don't expect that anytime soon.
Also all of Meta's platforms have trash UI, regardless of politics
Here’s an interesting tidbit. Every democratic presidential and vp nominee since 1984 has been an attorney. Technically, Al Gore wasn’t an attorney, but he left law school to run for Congress and never left DC. Jimmy Carter is the last non-attorney.

Shouldn't Pete at the very least have to be elected to something bigger than mayor of South Bend before he gets another promotion? He couldn't even win election to head the DNC for his sake.
