If you didn’t know, Walz and his wife took 7 years of IVF to have Hope, name not a coincidence. They have a high school aged son named Gus, and a black lab mix dog named Scout. Scout is cool.
And they have pics of the incident haha

On Walz 10th birthday: In Brighton, United Kingdom, ABBA wins the 1974 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with "Waterloo", the first of a joint-record seven Swedish wins.
Media already spinning this as a mediocre pick and trying to label Shapiro as a missed opportunity.
Which of course reiterates how solid of a pick it is
Which media? I'm not watching TV and don't really care if it's some talking-pundit-head trying to carve out their opinion for later. Attacks are weak as shit so far - Wanna Be West Coaster and that Walz is going to unleash hell on earth - except that's exactly what Trump said he was going to do before his Atlanta rally. Sad.
Surprisingly, The Guardian (who I usually go to for mainstream news). Their piece was a little NY Timesy with a "here's why it could hurt their chances" attitude

I’ll probably vote for Kamala now with Walz as the VP, rather than third party. He’s only sorta pro genocide, which is about as good as we could possibly get from a republican or democrat on this ballot.

I’ve seen at least 2 clips from MSNBC claiming the left wing of the party opposed Shapiro out of antisemitism. This has been pretty common online as well.. A line the right is now picking up on. So real good work there.
As was already said, good metric that it wasn’t a bad pick.

Yeah I went home at lunch and saw Andrea Mitchell trying to push that line a couple of times to one of her guests. Time for them to just kick ass on the campaign trail. Obviously the immediate, current state of the economy (thanks to The Fed) and Iran/Israel are storm-clouds. But if they navigate these decently enough, Walz is going to make JD look like a prick.

The press is very attached to the thing they made up that Shapiro was gonna guarantee Pennsylvania and now they’re gonna whine about it until November 6.
Msnbc is beyond fucked in the ratings if trump loses and finally goes away (he won't go away but might be dead by 2028)
Even if he's alive, I feel like his decline is coming, and he may not be capable. Watch speeches in 2016 versus now. They're not on the same level already.
I hate getting into specifics but fuck it: I actually caucused against Tim Walz in the 2018 gubernatorial election in MN because the field was mostly random state reps and he was perceived among progressives (myself included) as being the more moderate option. He’s no full commie or anything but he didn’t turn out to be as centrist as I thought, especially following the MN senate flipping to DFL control in 2022. So I feel pretty good about it.

Biggest criticism on the Walz pick seems to be coming from Never Trump Republicans who wanted Shapiro. So this just reinforces that Harris made correct choice.

Unity candidate. Zack Beauchamp had a great piece on this at Vox, and I think he’s right. Even though Walz isn’t himself from or of the left, the left didn’t want Shapiro because of the Israel-Palestine situation and his comments about campus protests and some paper he wrote in college. A lot of energy is coming from the left side of the Dem base, and no one wants to screw up that momentum. Harris has some heavyweights at or near the top of her campaign team who know what they are doing I think

They're running him until he's dead. He is the party. They don't have a Pelosi-type that can edge him out and even suggesting that would get you ostracized.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

And even after that, youre probably getting Ivanka or one of the coked out idiot sons

I think his 2 older sons are DOA. Only the maga-ist magas like Jr and nobody cares about Eric. Ivanka is for sure a threat especially if women hand republicans their asses this year. They'd almost have to run her or Haley again.
I worry about Baron though, MAGAs really love him and they are making a play for Gen Z and Gen Alpha with their right wing streamer outreach. It seems like the GOP powers that be are grooming him carry on the legacy and of course being only 18, he doesn't have much baggage with centrists like his dad and older brothers do.
