If he’s on the ballot in Louisiana, and if Biden is the Democratic candidate, I’m voting RFK jr. My vote in Louisiana is as meaningless as my vote would be in California. If Biden drops out, I’d at least consider Kamala but not likely voting for her. I’d definitely consider any other alternative. I’d vote for Whitmer and very likely vote for Newsom.
Whatever
RFK? That idiot isn't getting my vote anywhere ever.
The new book out about the Kennedy men has a few things to say about Jr. Disclaimer, no idea if any of it is true. But for someone with worms in his brain and eats Fido, would not put it past him.
The idea that democrats would have a “proper” primary is absurd. Some of you need to read a book or do some research. There’s been several instances of a sitting President being truly primaried. Let’s just say the sitting president ALWAYS loses the General.
1992: Pay Buchanan ran against GHW Bush in the primary and Ross Perot ran as an independent. Clinton won.
1980: Ted Kennedy and Jerry Brown ran against Jimmy Carter. Kennedy won 12 primaries. Reagan trounced Carter in the general.
1976: Ronald Reagan primaried Gerald Ford. Reagan won 24 primaries. Ford lost to Carter in the general.
1968: McCarthy, RFK, Humphrey all ran against LBJ. LBJ is the only one on this list that dropped out and Humphrey got trounced by Nixon in the general.
If you want to go way back, we could look at 1912 where Teddy Roosevelt ran against his former Sec of War Taft. Teddy ended up running under the Progressive/Bull Moose Party in the general and Woodrow Wilson came out on top.
Indeed, history tells us it's not a great idea. But also none of the incumbents being primaried were 81 years old, and election campaigns were not as grueling back then.
The only one of those incumbents who was as unpopular as Biden was Jimmy Carter. I love Jimmy Carter, but either of his primary opponents would have done better in the general, and the primary actually dramatically improved his approval rating for awhile (from a low around 27% from June through November 1979, back up to the upper 50's during the primary). He ultimately lost, but I would argue the primary was the right thing to do, and it would've been the right thing to do this year as well.
(And no, there was no real democratic primary this year.)
Has anyone ever watched Breaking Points on Youtube? I've been catching some videos of theirs the past week or so
How about sexual assault allegations too:
Trump has raped or assaulted multiple women and children. Biden has been accused of sexually assaulting a staffer (Tara Reade) also, as well as being a well-known creepy old man (sniff sniff, rub rub).
What's your point here? That we shouldn't vote for anyone?

It probably depends on your information diet. That wasn't ever anything talked about until the right-wing ecosphere push made it somewhat a viral thing that people influenced by social media latched onto. I don't know him and never met him, but I think that push was suspect regardless of whether he's actually creepy or not. I'm not believing amplified twitter about anything.

Tbh, my point was that they're all creepy dudes who have been accused of sexual assault. I'm not sure about Stein or West, though. Maybe they're clean
July 18th is the 199th day of the year in the Gregorian calendar. On this day, Adolf Hitler publishes “Mein Kampf”, Kim Jong-un is officially the Supreme Leader of North Korea, and the Government of Detroit, files for the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history. It's also Nelson Mandela Day.

Trump's gonna win in November. Then the GOP will find a dozen reasons why we can't have another election in 2028. And then they'll just retain power while Democrats complain and write letters about how they are defying the norms and rules and we should creat an ethics committee to discuss the topic for months and do nothing.
I'm so pessimistic about the right and their takeover plans
if u think rents are bad now due to these things just wait for 3 years when no one has built any new buildings due to rates and purchasing a home has gotten no cheaper and more ppl enter the renter pool.

So I don't really know how to properly explain it and it's really just a small thing but it's been bugging me since I saw that Pelosi said this
In some ways, this is kind of what makes me so sick of the democrat politicians.
Just fucking say something. Take a fucking stand on one way or the other. And don't wait until a long time after you've already done all the polling and see that it's safe enough to fully support something (like gay marriage).
Like, the whole "well I'm not going to say what I want but I will say he should make a decision soon" is just waffling bullshit. Afraid to upset anyone or rock the boat so just take the simplest approach and basically say "sure hope they do the right thing".
I would respect her just making a choice and voicing it. This kind of non-answer thing is basically just a delay tactic.

Yeah it makes sense for a freshman Dem to maybe keep their concerns behind closed doors. Pelosi doesn't have anything to lose, it's not like the DNC would primary her for speaking out against Biden
I think he does drop out next week, right as the Republican convention is going on because it will destory their messaging and Trump will go off script

And im not even saying she should support one way or the other. Whatever she supports I'd just like to see more of a backbone. More of a plan. Less kicking the can down the road a little further and start doing something.

I actually like the way she's going about it. He's very clearly stated publicly that he's not dropping out, so to respond in that fashion indicates pretty clearly that there are still conversations going on behind the scenes. He's being stubborn, so a bunch of people basically demanding he drop out publicly might actually push him the opposite direction (it has to be his decision, he'll reject it if others force him to do it). And there's real risk in leadership coming out and saying he should drop out; if he doesn't, we're stuck with him, except now the public knows that not even democratic leadership thinks he should be running...so why would some average person think they should vote for him?
Much better to apply the pressure behind the scenes, especially from leadership. Also glad that the squad has been backing him, both because it's good policy-wise (instead of being seen as tearing the party apart, they're supporting it, which is better for getting policy backing long term) and because again: if he doesn't drop out and they've signaled to young progressive voters that they don't support him running, it'll hurt the young progressive vote.
Because we can't have another four years of fucking Trump.

Dems need to make sure RFK Jr is on the ballot everywhere. I really do think he'd pull the 5% swing state votes away from trump that's needed to an EC victory. Don't believe the hype, most of his fans are 2016/2020 trump voters

I honestly find it pretty surprising she isn't just fully supporting him.
