So whats the future?
USA: participating in genocide, kleptocracy, soon to be fascist and therocracy Israel: doing genocide, therocracy China: doing genocide, monocracy pretending to be communist Russia: kleptocracy, trying to do genocide
Has the future looked this bleak since the middle ages? It's not like anyone could "liberate" the US and even then, the options would be arguably worse.
Maybe climate change really will end our suffering?
Probably. And then eventually enough people will come to their senses and get tired of the BS that it will get better. That's what I tell myself anyway.
This is kinda where my head is at this moment. We do not want assassinations. You want things to get really, really bad? This is how it starts. Actual violence
No, we don't want assassinations, because that could spiral in a hurry and would continue to divide us further. But to be fair, we've seen already seen politically-charged, actual violence in recent years, like January 6th, the white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Nancy Pelosi's husband nearly being killed with a hammer, Steve Scalise being shot playing baseball, and numerous protests across the country that have turned violent. And that's not even counting the ridiculous number of murders of black men by white cops (I say that's politically-charged - bad, violent cops are almost always white, male, and conservative), or the situations in Ukraine and Gaza, which our country and government have a stake in, as well as violence against migrants, and of course school and other mass shootings, the perpetrators of which are often stoked by political rhetoric.

You're right, and I agree, mostly at least. However, claims of great prosperity or of doom and gloom are always are almost always overblown because of recency bias and being personally impacted. For all of recorded history people have written about the impending end of peaceful society, if not the apocalypse. I'm rarely the most optimistic person in the room, and I don't expect everything to suddenly be better next week or even next year, but in the words of George Harrison, all things must pass.
What the actual fuck? I really really really hate this fucking timeline.
I'm sure it has everything to do with Saturday's assassination attempt. That and Biden's debate performance happening within just a couple of weeks of each other has the GOP feeling overconfident. Now that Trump is a martyr they can just be as corrupt as they want and not even hide it because "well you guys tried to kill him". And with those things taking up all the headlines they probably feel they can bury this.

It's either that or the RNC happening starting today; I could easily envision Cannon just dragged this thing out until she could make it a big point of celebrating during their convention.

This was a long time coming. Ever since she was assigned the case.
The bigger issues are: - a conservative tried to kill trump - this type of "living martyrdom" has been talked about on Steve Bannons podcast - the person that donated to ActBlue was a 60 year old with the same name as the perpetrator - project 2025

Got a link for this? I don't doubt you, just want to shove it in this dude's face on my FB who has been gloating non stop.

Yeah I saw that one flip flop. First he donated, then it was a different guy in Pittsburgh, then it turned out the actual thing was he did donate the $15.
Though I did see people speculating that he made the donation the day after Biden I was inaugurated or something and could be he just lost a bet and had to donate. But either way, last I saw was that he supposedly did donate the money.
Of course wouldn't surprise me if that changes again

"Reporters must give context"
Yeah like that will happen. They'll just call him the Hillbilly Ellegy guy and pretend it was a good book/movie (I only saw the movie, before I knew who JD Vance was and I remember thinking "this movie really sucks")
