It doesn’t matter who anyone outside of a swing state votes for anyway.
I'd say it could for down ballots to some degree but voter apathy is a much bigger issue there than 3rd party voters. Like in the cities. It doesn't make the first fuck if I show up or not in deep red land.
I'm on the record against Trump in 2016. That's the only thing I can say it affected.

even if I voted third party for president I wouldn’t for down ballot shit most likely, though I’d be tempted with Hick v Gardener. But yeah if people just don’t vote at all because of our shitty presidential options that could be a bad thing.
I'm voting third party in pres as of now but voting for Mike Siegel in his Dem primary and whatever other progressives made the runoff. A helpful Warren staffer (!) texted me today to remind about the runoffs, which end in TX on the 15th, and early voting can be done at any precinct in the state before that, but on election day you must vote in your precinct! Texas (socdem) blue wave!

When I was younger I used to vote Dem when I went to vote Green. Just to vote against GOP folks. At least for the bigger races. There's really no options for local stuff. Not even sure if the crazy Qanon woman will have a challenger if she wins her runoff. She kick their ass anyway. I would make a point to vote against her if I went.
I don't know. I'd likly vote Ossoff if I thought it would help a candidate I had any faith in pushing good policy. He's fake as hell but he's no Hick. Not yet. And he'd need progressives and youth turnout to pull of a win. Highly doubtful Biden brings that much energy.
I fully expect the USSC to protect the president today in both rulings thereby hamstringing future congresses from investigating the executive branch and also basically allowing Trump to have gotten away with all the schemes the NY Southern District was investigating. They could pull some narrow scope shit specific to either case, but the implications for the future are that a sitting president is above the law. If ever I wanted to be wrong about something...
the veepstakes candidate i'm seeing the most heat around right now is Tammy Duckworth. i doubt i'll watch the biden/trump debates because i can't sit still and listen to trump speak and biden isn't an impressive debater, but i'd watch the shit out of mike pence trying to wrangle with a female non-white mother of two veteran helicopter pilot who lost both her legs in the war.
beyond that i don't think VP picks matter much when it comes to winning.
We just have a president who literally kills his people because he thinks he can get re-elected that way.
Biden told people it was safe to go out and vote in a pandemic even though he had the nomination 99% locked up
Again. Don’t like Biden and I don’t like that he did that but even if his covid response sucks in office, it will be light years better than the actively bad response Trump has had

OK but that's a different question than whether he is willing to kill people to increase his personal power
Oh damn. While it's a legitimate ruling for that investigation, I'm closing my eyes until the Congressional inquiry ruling comes out. Maybe they state that the Court doesn't want to referee and will only deal with this specific case. IDK. Strange day, but if they rule against Trump, he's probably starting WWIII. Meanwhile, lock him up.
Missouri has open primaries and thinking of voting in the republican governor's primary to try and get a weaker candidate in. Dumb idea?
How insane are they?
I don't know but I loathe Parsons. I looked up one guy and he seemed very conservative but "farmer jesus conservative", couldn't find any MAGA references on his page which is rare in a republican primary where they trip over themselves to bootlick.
Side note, I just found out Nathan Fielder is a writer on Who Is America and now I can’t unsee his humor throughout it
Apparently he was a major part in the "Build a mega-mosque in the country" town hall meeting where people were flipping out about a mosque being built in their town. Definitely can see his fingerprints on it.
Best I can tell from the story is that there are other points they want addressed in the lower courts and also to probably punt until after the election. Both cases were apparently 7-2.
Trump’s two high court appointees, Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, joined the majority in both cases along with Chief Justice John Roberts and the four liberal justices. Roberts wrote both opinions.
“Congressional subpoenas for information from the President, however, implicate special concerns regarding the separation of powers. The courts below did not take adequate account of those concerns,” Roberts wrote in the congressional case.

The idea of having two court cases on Trump's financial records in one day is absolutely short circuiting the brains of local news commenters. It's quite humorous to watch. In addition, there's some who legit think this is the first time a politician has released their tax returns ever.

I can't believe people are still considering not voting for the only candidate who can beat Trump. I don't care that I live in Louisiana, I'm still going into this election as if I live in a swing state. This shit is too important.
If it was that important they wouldn't have forced a senile sex pest on us.
Embrace the fucking doom. It's coming regardless of which peice of shit wins.
Understood. But maybe approaching doom gets slowed down from speed of light at least to the speed of sound. Biden isn't progressive, but the times will force him to embrace some changes maybe he wouldn't have been comfortable with before. Whoever is president wouldn't ordinarily affect my life. This time, the botched, inept COVID-19 response is responsible for over 130,000 dead, mostly innocent people. That shit has to go. So does their ability to stack the federal judiciary with shitty frat-boy right-wingers.
The biggest difference is that you'll get 0% of what you want out of the current GOP. At least with the Biden, you're going to get some, even if some of that is so-called window dressing. I wasn't super happy with all that came out of the Biden-Sanders unity agreement, because Biden is kicking several proverbial cans down the road. But it's certainly a start for a new path if whoever follows Biden happens to be or is wiling to embrace the left. Here's the text of the report. It's 110 pages, and I only skimmed it yesterday. But it's immediately a better place than where we are now.
