^^^ LMAO we are so fuck. My dad doesn't even watch Fox and he'd heard the right wing narrative for this by breakfast.
Have already seen tons of people saying that Blake had a criminal record and should have complied with police. People saying that he put his kids at risk for not following orders DESPITE THE FACT that the cops weren't there to deal with him. He did nothing wrong there.
So black man getting shot in the back 7 times by cops = his own fault
White kid traveling over state lines with a weapon (wearing gloves to hide prints/gun residue?) and going to a protest and killing two people = the protesters fault.

I'm so tired.
Here we go
Having a knife in his car is such a non event if people were actually looking at this objectively. I have one in my pocket at least 75-80% of the time when I leave the house, and I'd venture a vast majority of those who are getting ready to legitimize the shooting because of this do too.

Soooo there's no way they convict that mini-cop with first degree murder. I'm wondering what the thought process was in charging him with it unless they've already obtained online chatlogs/text of him specifically talking about wanting to kill protesters or something. I guess they might have footage that hasn't hit the net as well but from all the vids I've seen I don't think they have a case for premeditated murder. Or at least not one that will stick in our system.
Edit: Plus, we've seen "self-defense" claim work out too many times. There's enough chaos in this videos that a good defense team will be able to win out.

Not a lawyer, but would the fact that he travelled across state lines, then travelled back after the murder matter? Obviously the DOJ is fucked anyways and would probably let him off.
Friend of mine from Minnesota texted me this morning saying that he now thinks MN will go to Trump. He says the protesting/rioting/looting has been going on so long now in so many states that he's hearing people are getting tired of it. This is anecdotal, but it's concerning for so, so many reasons. Trump is using this as the entire basis of his law and order convention platform. He's using it to take the focus off his abysmal Covid response. He's going to keep letting things get out of hand without solving any issues and/or he is going to continue arresting people in vans and severely injuring protesters with excessive force. And it might end up helping him win some close states. It's also tough to imagine that policing gets anything but worse if he is elected.
EDIT: I guess what I'm saying is that I'm very heartbroken and depressed right now about everything. The protests are the exact right thing to happen right now because every unnecessary death is a tragedy and everything that can be done must be done to try to fix these issues. And it should be so uplifting to see these athletes stand together in protest by refusing to play sports right now. But it's just not. Because they're hurting. People throughout the country are hurting. And that man is using all this hate and desperation and struggle to help fire up his base with this divisive, hateful propaganda. And he's using it to steal another election. And he's going to destroy our country. And it just feels like there's nothing we can do about it.

I'm fully preparing for a trump win, hook or by crook. America's collective stupidity combined with voter supression is just too much to overcome. I know America was never a "great country" for a lot of people, but we truly do live in a authoritarian klepocracy now.

I don't think he will be completely let off. He's just likly not going to face first degree murder because that charge won't stick... at least with publicly available info.
I would think traveling is good secondary evidence of premeditation IF you already have proof of intent. Say he posted on Facebook about wanting to take out protestors. Or told his friends that or something.
Probably will end up as reckless homicide I'd guess. Killing someone that he felt threatened by. That's especially the case for the second victim.
And he might get off on all that too. Who knows. It's good Wisconsin dosn't have a stand your ground law.

This is correct, but if the DOJ decides to they could support a federal gun charge for the weapon (which from reports was not licensed correctly). Problem is will the feds expend the resources, probably not, unless pushed on it. It is going to end up as a manslaughter, and then an added 2nd degree murder charge -- if I'm guessing correctly. Our main hope right now is that there is no stand your ground law, and that he had no right to go beyond the initial shot of "self-defense", making the firing of a weapon into a crowd a pre-meditated assault because they cannot defend themselves. Which already is fucked.

They've got the narrative and now it's up to the Shapiro's and Ngos and Carlson's out there to spread it to the base.
According to them it's clear cut that he was acting in self defense, that he feared for his safety, and then he was only doing what the cops should be doing and that's restoring order.
I'd like all of your opinions on this because it's something I've been thinking about recently. What do you think would happen if the progressive left broke off of the Dem party and started a new one. Republicans = facist party Dems = Conservative party New Party = Liberal Party

I feel like Dems and republicans will do anything in their power to not allow a real third party to rise up. They would team up on that. Although it does feel like working in the current system will not get it done

Would they have a chance?
Progressive left can’t even win the democratic primaries. They’d be slaughtered in three party system.
There’s no hope for this country to ever be reformed. Just burn it all to the ground.
neighbors had to be rescued from people trying to burn down a Chinese restaurant last night. You prolly don't mean it that literally but that's the reality for me
