So evidently there is going to be no rape in the whole state of Texas, ever, according to Governor Abbott.
Cool, let's see how that works out.
Saw someone online explaining that rather than actually increase efforts to stop anything they'll just cut back on prosecuting and investigating. If you pretend there's no rape tuen the numbers go down.
Either way it's so gross to just act like "we'll just stop it" as if nobody ever thought of that
Turner, the mayor of Houston, should have run, for one.
Can you elaborate?
he's mostly clean of scandal he's navigated big disasters he's headed the most diverse city in the state he's won his races here despite putrid turnout locally he handled covid ok w the help of judge Hidalgo (who probably has a better outlook)
he's a very capable centristish candidate that would easily secure the already left base and would be able to navigate a pro business state without going overboard on Bs social issues

Hidalgo could also run. She's a star in the making and was the face of the COVID response moreso than Turner. Beto should be running. One of the Castros. The Austin mayor. Can't say who the best candidate would be/who would win a primary, but local political people I follow seem to think it's weird Turner isn't running.
Abbott's approval is in the negative for the first time in a long time, maybe ever, after the cold snap, and businesses are starting to pull out over the abortion bill. And it's not a presidential year, so it's more possible.

Oh yeah, Matthew McConaughey lol. He's a weirdo who's friends with Jordan Peterson and who I'm scared of, but he might be better than Abbott still, and he'd probably win. We'd probably just be incubating the next Reagan, though.

Was the California recall the biggest non-story ever? Was the media just fabricating some election drama because they miss 2020 and can't wait for 2024? My instincts say yes.

Biggest waste of money you mean. The 2003 recall at least had a candidate on the other side who didnt give a shit and wanted to help everyone, not just the party he was representing. The maga bros are gonna call it rigged anyway.

I meant that the "media", both sides, were openly speculating that Newsome was in trouble when in realty it was just a clownshow and a waste of time/money. The media gives air to people like Caitlyn Jenner and the other irrelevant GOPers and it's annoying. National outlets have to stop treating unserious bad faith people with legitimacy.

Lmao NBC trying to pass off Rich Lowry as an unbiased analyst. He's only the editor of the most conservative magazine in existence that was pro-segregation back in the day. Good thing nobody but weirdo DC dorks watch Meet the press.
