If I remember correctly, they don't even use all of Mana. Just about half. If they over sold enough to be over capacity for all of Mana + the parking lot, that means they got really greedy.
Or they just wanted to keep tix on sale until tЯist♡n bought his
I assume the warehouse district between the airport and the freeway has had some stuff torn down? Would need more open space for headliners.Looks pretty built up on Google maps. Could be cool but lack of walkable lodging/public transportation could be a problem.
I don’t think moving locations is necessarily “sketchy”. You gotta be pretty adaptable with events. Look at Coachella, they don’t make any announcement till they know exactly what’s going on and keep their messaging exclusively focused on important stuff. From a promoter standpoint, making an announcement that you’re moving, but don’t know where to is just useless noise on your channels till you can tell people exactly what’s going on.
And I don’t fault a promoter for pushing the boundaries on ticket sales this year. Everyone is trying to capitalize on what’s going to be an attendance record shattering year after a year of barely staying afloat

Based on what we've been told the only reason the venue might be changing is because they might have sold too many tickets for Mana to accommodate the crowd. Am I misunderstanding that? Not sure if I missed something from truevine.
They've sold these tickets explicitly telling customers the venue will be at Mana. If they oversell the venue they're promising customers who bought these tickets, and then they decide to change because of their own actions how is that not sketchy?
And honestly even if the reason for the move was not entirely within their control (i.e., COVID restrictions are making Mana not possible) then they shouldn't be advertising that as the venue? I don't see how their actions are defendable.

If they needed the money they should have just raised ticket prices instead over overselling. They have six tiers of tickets, there were plenty of chances to adjust.

I agree they shouldn’t have the venue on the website. I think it was a pre-pandemic oversight. But I don’t think they ever confirmed Mana for those dates
Maybe I just put less stock in the importance of a venue than you guys. So long as the new venue is of equal or better quality I see no real issue with this

I thought the Miami warehouse district that was developed by Opportunity Zone money was Wynnwood lol
Wynwood was developed in early/mid 2010s
I was mostly making a joke, but this is actually something I know a lot about and pretty much all new construction in Miami north or west of Brickell is using opportunity zone money in some respect. never thought id see this brought up on this forum lol

Well, they just put all the tax breaks in places where developers were already headed. Or in Rybovich’s Palm Beach marina or whatever

the two potential venues both being out by the airport=pretty shitty location, no? def not near the appealing areas to peruse when visiting the city, from what i can tell even just briefly looking at the map
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
why must the producers of all niche/nicely curated festivals (FYF, DfN, and now iii points) in the US be sketchy in one form or another?
because the majors who have all their p's and q's in order are about their money and stick with the vanilla lineups to appease the general public. a lot of the well curated lineups come from promoters who have cut their teeth in the underground and constantly had to work around limitations.

they are all chosen state by state, there were some states that didnt do it that egregiously but Florida was not one of them. a lot of bad but it has helped affordable housing too so its a bit of a mix based on the state

thanks for the answer but it still doesn’t explain why the likes of Omar Afra are such sketchy human beings.

This is my biggest issue with this take. I really don’t think moving venues so you can make more money is anywhere near as bad as what Omar Afra did

I honestly dont see them having it in the Magic City Casino parking lot. That would be a major fucking cluster fuck for the casino patrons during that weekend. Granted they NEVER fill anywhere CLOSE to that entire parking lot, but logistic of entry/exit would be awful.
