Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'm for whatever everyone else wants. I think it's a great opportunity to have a draft judged by experts and cool that there's a real prize.
Speaking of which, maybe at some point we can do these drafts with a buy in used for the winner to get a ticket to Bonnaroo? Just an idea. Haven't fleshed it out. Might improve the commitment level of participants.
Agreed. My girlfriend has no interest in going to iii points so I would 100% trade my good acts for shitty ones with the agreement that I get one of the tickets if we win. So we should ban trading.
Keep these ideas coming. I have a couple twists up my sleeve that may make some people uncomfortable.
For instance, I'm thinking we each have the same schedule to fill out. Same amount of acts in the prime slots of a typical iii points day at their specific stages. All of the lower tiered slots are blocked out and assumed to be the same for everyone.
Cool to see that there is some enthusiasm. Now for the fireworks...
When do we do this one? I see JTR prefers doing Infinity first. Anyone else wanna chime in?
From someone that wants to do a Bonnaroo one similar to the Coachella one we're doing, but sitting out III points. I don't think it would be crazy to have both going on at the same time.

this is kinda where my head is at. Think its a little more niche. Probably not as many participants. Don't think 2 at once is too much to handle. But I'm just antsy. I could see the other side of it.

Nah, I like the fact that Id be basically be curating whole iii points line up from top to bottom like Roo and now with Coachella draft aswell. I like the scheiding idea but I feel like it all is gonna come down to the same sorta scheiding anyways (like Roo has the classic late night shows, HLers unopposed etc).

Confession that y'all will prob hate me for: I don't look at anyone's schedule. I only even make one because multiple people only vote for people who do.

Are you doing this one with a budget?
I've been tossing that idea back and forth. Part of me feels like setting budgets for acts is something I'm not capable of and even if I was it would take a ton of legwork. I'm more inclined to just state in the rules that realism is a part of the criteria, and if your lineup is wildly larger than a iii points lineup, you'll be deducted points for that. Similarly, if the iii points team doesn't think your lineup would sell enough tickets for them to stay in business, you'd be deducted points for that.
Also I think since there's an actual prize at the end of this, it might be a good idea to to forego posters for this one. A good presentation can make a difference, and it'd be best if we were all on an even playing field.

iii points posters are pretty straightforward. We have enough good poster makers to where everyone can have a really similar looking one without anyone suffering from it.

the bottom half of their lineups are basically local Miami DJs, don’t think that’s necessary.

I'm confident that you'd excel at this, but the bottom half of iii Points lineups starts getting into obscure Miami artists. We may be asking for more work than necessary if all participants have to do a deep dive on Miami artists. If you look at the 2020 iii Points poster, my feeling is that we should draft down to the Rat Bastard / Poorgrrl lines.
I've never been sure that Free Agency in any of these Drafts is a good thing. No matter what, I plan to listen to everyone's thoughts and then present my final vision for it. And if there is violent pushback on any ideas I'll obviously change them, as I want to make sure to get this right.

Yeah looking at this now. It makes more sense actually. I've roughly counted 40/45 acts so... That'd make a good starting point idk?

I responded to T just now but also wanted to mention that this is kinda how I'm thinking about the schedule and poster: It's the exact same for everyone. While the creativity we've seen with schedules and posters is really fun, I want to try one where we all have the same clear objective, and it really comes down to who drafted the best with the same schedule template in mind. Everyone knows they need to fill in specific slots on specific stages.

Here is what im thinking
2 day fest
3 artists on Mind Melt (multigenre mainstage) 5 artists on the Main Frame (multigenre* second stage. warehouse feel. *DJ closes the stage each night) 4 artists on the Isotropic (mid sized DJs such as Peggy Gou, DJ Seinfeld, Laurel Halo) 2 artists in the boiler room (slightly smaller DJs) 3 artists on the sector 3 stage (Indie rock stage like Ty Segall and Khraungbin and shit)
So that would be 34 picks. The genres don't have to be strictly adhered to. If you want to bring Country Music to iii Points, feel free to make your case for why iii Points should move in that direction. I would consider that a risk though lol
