Yeah looking at this now. It makes more sense actually. I've roughly counted 40/45 acts so... That'd make a good starting point idk?
Here is what im thinking
2 day fest
3 artists on Mind Melt (multigenre mainstage) 5 artists on the Main Frame (multigenre* second stage. warehouse feel. *DJ closes the stage each night) 4 artists on the Isotropic (mid sized DJs such as Peggy Gou, DJ Seinfeld, Laurel Halo) 2 artists in the boiler room (slightly smaller DJs) 3 artists on the sector 3 stage (Indie rock stage like Ty Segall and Khraungbin and shit)
So that would be 34 picks. The genres don't have to be strictly adhered to. If you want to bring Country Music to iii Points, feel free to make your case for why iii Points should move in that direction. I would consider that a risk though lol
Thoughts?
Looks good tbh. I'd cap it off at 35 or 40, well cause.. 34 is an odd number (though I get that you just wanted to lay out the math haha). I don't how ingrained the boiler room partnership actually is within the festival. Seems something that's only been done most recent years, wouldn't mind picking 2 artists for that stage but doesn't make much sense to me that it's 'just' 2, you know?
This sounds really cool. I won’t be participating as I have no use for the prize and I’d be out of my element within the first few rounds, but I’ll def be following along.
My two cents: having a set schedule you’re working towards make the most sense in terms of fairness and realism. Like, you have this schedule you need to fill with some guidelines based on how the actual festival operates, etc. Then you see who can do that the best. It’ll be interesting.

2 per day so its 4, but if we eliminated it, subtracting that gets us to a nice clean 30 picks. Kinda tempting.

I get being out of your element. Im not really passionate about the idea that youd need to have a use for the prize. You could simply pass it to the second place finisher.

I’m against two drafts at once fwiw. If we do it tho, we’d have to stagger when we start them. Like we could start this once at round 15 of the infinity.

so you can't do two at the same time?
I could but it seems like a mess to me. I don’t really see the need to do it either.

I definitely wouldn't want to be a participant in two drafts at the same time; that shit'd get confusing. Fine with others doing something else at the same time though!
Also vote Infinity first. That gives more time to figure out the rules and structure for the III Points thing, so win-win

yeah this is resonating with me quite a bit (2 at the same time).
Not really sure which thread is best to discuss this in, but there is another Draft idea brewing. First and foremost, I hope this doesn't at all take away attention from the current Coachella Draft, and I don't think it will with rd 31 coming up. But if it does, my apologies to Fred and Bing .
Julie and I have messaged about a potential iii Points Draft. We would draft a iii Points Lineup and the winner of the draft would be decided by Truevine and the actual iii Points team. He has also mentioned that the winner may be given a pair of tickets to the next edition of the iii Points festival... like in real life.
I'm working out the details of the draft and Truevine will provide me with some guidance on how to frame the game (i.e. With the Isotropic Stage, we try to accomplish xyz). I'd want this to be a much more focused draft with a more clear objective in mind than usual. Like you are putting yourself in Truevine's shoes and trying to be the best at executing their theme. So the headliner pool will be much different, DJs will be all the rage, etc...
But before I get into details there is that big issue of timing as it relates to the Infinity Draft and the Bonnaroo Legacy Draft. I imagine some people will be very hyped about this, and some people will be kinda ehh on it. Just want to see what the general interest level is for now.
Sounds great!
I'll do terrible, but I'd still give it the ol' college try.
you are def in. Figured you and maddog would want to recreate D4N.
Thoughts on this vs infinity vs roo legacy timing wise?
Roo Legacy is no rush. Still have to conceptualize the auction. Any input on that is welcome and appreciated.
Assign dollar values based on billing. If they appear multiple times you could use their peak billing, cumulative value or average billing. Probably peak. Then you can assign a baseline budget based on how you value the top 100 or 110 picks in a draft.

i think there should be tiers. You could probably find some info on Beyonce etc. Acts like Radiohead should be worth more than what they receive since I think they only get 1M(?) a show but they’re very picky.
everyone is doing fine in coachella thread in terms of DJs tbh
there’s been barely any boiler room type smaller DJs taken.
FWIW (not to derail this thread topic) I have a list of Yuma DJs I want, but none that I’m concerned will be drafted, so I’m taking them in FA. I assume lots are doing the same.

we've done enough drafts that we should be able to get an average rank for most people and then just go from there.
