Ok, they replied someone on FB that they're gonna be in LA in April, so let's go ahead and put them under confirmed
Fingers crossed. That would be a big deal for me again.
Fred and I booked a place again. On a plus note: We're closer to downtown. The only problem is there's no Taco Bell in the parking lot. Hopeful I survive without a 4th meal.

Should I set myself up for disappointment and dream of Stars of the Lid? They pop up occasionally on festival lineups and the envy factor goes through the roof.
I've also convinced myself that Stereolab is #1 or #2.
It's the new JPJ 'band'. Truth be told, I'd rather have Jim O'Rourke (one of the special guests) and Thurston. It would be fun to see though.
Yes to Thurston Moore please!
I'm thinking Kim as opposed to Thurston but they do both have new albums. It wouldn't surprise me to see one or the other on there. I lean Kim because of the Body/Head show a few years ago.

Festival donors will have a special pre-sale starting a few days before on Monday. There will be access to a limited number of weekend passes at last year’s prices. A second pre-sale for last year’s pass holders will begin upon the announcement of the lineup. If you are a festival donor or purchased tickets for last year’s festival, you will receive an email with a special code and details about the pre-sale on Monday of next week – so be on the lookout. If you’re interested in gaining pre-sale access, it’s not too late to make a tax-deductible gift to the festival.
But nothing is changing. Same venues, same format. I'll have to wait closer to Christmas but I don't expect this to be a sell out right away.

It’s nice that we’ll be able to get tickets with last year’s prices after seeing the lineup.
Just wondering, would Nick Cave fit the bill for this? I just couldn't figure a venue he could play at without people getting trampled trying to get in, but I would absolutely love to see that name up top.
Either way, I think this is going to end up being my AotY.

I just saw Nick Cave a few nights ago, on his "Conversations" tour... it was fantastic: ~3 hours of uninterrupted Q&A along with around 14 songs (many of which were requests). The capacity for that venue is just over 1000, which is smaller than the Tennessee. Of course, the show sold out almost immediately...
His latest album, "Ghosteen" is brilliant; might be my favorite of his catalog.

Yeah, it's a wish. I should know better than that.
On a brighter note, the state sent a $220 check for errors they made in my favor. Looks like I can pick up that ticket next week after all.

I just saw Stereolab last night... amazing, of course. However, the highlight for me was the opener, Bitchin Bajas. Awful name, but they're channeling the ghost of early-Kraftwerk / Fripp & Eno. They'd make a great addition to Big Ears...

Though it makes sense they're not going to announce all of the artists today (there's always late/special announcements), I was a little surprise to see the "Announce" image accompanied with:
Tomorrow at 10am ET, we'll announce the first round of artists slated to join us for 2020.
I thought we were getting, more or less, the whole deal today. I guess we'll see soon enough...

Solid names in the announce... not a whole lot of surprises, but those that are, are AWESOME... Tindersticks have been on my "Must See List" for over 25 years now (and were part of my wishlist posted earlier in this thread!).
