Been going back and watching old shows on youtube. Watching a Tool show from 01, from like a week before I saw them. Realizing they played Pushit every one of the shows leading into mine and the show ever. I never in 6 times got to see them play Pushit. We got Eulogy that night, which was awesome. But damnit, I may never get to see them play Pushit.
Anyone else have stories like this of elusive songs by your favorite bands?

1/5 on Pushit (was good!) 0/5 on Third Eye.
also 0/5 with Hearts Alive
I saw Third Eye once. Hearts Alive is the first song I ever saw them play, possibly even the first Mastodon song I ever heard. I saw them open for Clutch before Leviathan came out. I can't remember exactly if I hadn't heard them at all. But obviously hadn't heard them play anything like that. May be the most floored I ever have been by an opener. Then they opened with it again the next time I saw them.
Lil Ugly Mane performing Stoop lights in Cambridge last year is my biggest one. he's never played that song at any other date hes played and I actually yelled play Stoop Lights just before he did. Needless to say I was ecstatic. he hasnt played it again though and didnt last time he was in Cambridge in june.

Kacey Musgraves doing Do You Realize was pretty great.
I once saw Jay Z make his DJ flip through the entire Black Album to find a song he wanted to do an encore with at the end of his set. He did “What More Can I Say” which seemed apt.
I’ve seen Radiohead do Creep, My Iron Lung, Subterranean Homesick Alien, and Street Spirit which were all songs I thought I’d never see.

I like you guys taking in the positive direction. With Radiohead my positive thing is I saw them play Talk Show Host 2 nights in a row. I haven't seen Climbing Up The Walls or Electioneering.

I haven’t seen those either. My main wants are 15 Step, Packt Like Sardines, Lucky, and Fake Plastic Trees.

I saw Dr. Dre perform Still D.R.E. That’s more elusive because he is though. I’ve also seen Fake Plastic Trees Seeing Arctic Monkeys play Ritz to Rubble was sick too

I got fake plastic trees and talk show host the last Radiohead show I was at. I saw the offspring play like a minute of Jennifer lost the war before dexter forgot how it went. Wish I got the whole song but it was probably like a decade since the last time they played it so it was a cool minute.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
I saw Ween play Hey Ya in Atl last October loll They also played The Blarney Stone which was my #1 “gotta hear it live” song by anyone, and may be my all time favorite live music moment.
I’m into the Dead and WSP and there are a ton of elusive songs with them and in the jamband community in general they are called song chasers.
For me personally, the main songs I would really love to hear live more than anything else are Eriatarka by the Mars Volta and really anything from Aldhil’s Arboretum by of Montreal.
I’d also love to hear almost all of Travelers of Space and Time by The Apples in Stereo as well, if they ever get back together. They played none of it at their last reunion show a couple of years ago which would have crushed my spirit 😂

I've seen Tool like 4 times. I got Pushit but have been chasing Eulogy. I could name 10 Radiohead songs I still want to see, but it was really fucking cool to get Talk Show Host and the Bends in Cincinnati
I've seen Courtney Barnett only at festival shows and I really want to hear Anonymous Club. That seems to be more for her solo dates though. I missed the Yeezus tour and I fear some of those songs will never be played live again.

The first time I saw Portugal the Man was in October 2010 and even though American Ghetto was only 7 months old they didn't play one song off it. Not complaining because they played for 2 hours and played all the great songs off Censored Colors and Church Mouth. But then I saw them half a dozen more times and they still never played anything off of American Ghetto. I saw other setlists at the time that included "When the war ends" which is my favorite song off that album. Now they rarely play anything from before Evil Friends.
However, I can claim membership in the "Third Eye" (2002, first time played since 1998 at the time) and "Fake Plastic Trees" (2017) clubs.

I think the reason they never played much of American Ghetto is because it was one of those just made an album to satisfy a label contract deals. I hate how they act like their old stuff doesn't exist. They made such a drastic change in the way they do things. From an album a year band that played epic shows that mixed in everything to playing the same album for like 4 years. I use to see them a lot, now I don't even care.
Still 0/3 on seeing Fake Plastic Trees but other than that I've pretty much knocked out all of my Radiohead bucket list
I got lucky, the first tine I saw them they played FPT, Creep, No Surprises and pretty much all of HTTT. Then in the other 5 tines I've seen them play almost everything else.

I don't blame them for cashing in with putting songs in advertisements and festival appearances (where most band's setlists tend to be shorter and lean heavily to new songs). I'm sure they were broke for years and totally deserve it. But yeah, I've lost excitement to go see them anymore cause even their headlining dates are just the same songs.
