When I was in my prime it was not uncommon to take a bride thirty or forty years my junior, assuming of course that her dowry was satisfactory and that she had most of her teeth.

indeed, however one must also have considered the size of the hips, lest she not have the girth necessary to produce heirs once she reaches child bearing age.
for any type of grooming to happen there has to be an ongoing relationship. it can't be just like oh hey i met them once or twice when they were a minor. it's clear that guy had a connection with her when she was a teenager, and perhaps just kept it "friendly" until she was of age etc. that's what weirds me out. it's not like he started wanting to fuck her only on her legal birthday. which means consciously or unconsciously, he was projecting to her that he wanted their relationship to be sexual. more than likely when she was still a child.

this, conveys pretty well what I would consider to be grooming. if i’m correct, i remember reading something in the jesse rutherford scenario stating he had known her well since she was 15 and he was 26. that ongoing communication is what rose red flags to me.

I think it's perfectly fine to look at that situation and say "yeah that seems like grooming" lol. It's not like there are any consequences anyway. People just kinda think you're gross.
Yeah, that always adds another layer of icky to it.
If a 50 year old actor wants to date a 28 year old actor they met at a hollywood party or ceremony or whatever? Sure the age gap seems odd to me but it's not super creepy.
Knowing the person when they were in braces and middle school and then dating them just after they come of age? How long you been thinking about that?
A friend of mine is married to a girl he met when he was around 18 and she was 12. But there's of course more to the story.
The 12 year old girl was the daughter of a woman who ran a week long camp for people with special needs. My friend volunteered as a camp counselor at this camp every summer when he was in high school and some in college. The 12 year old girl had a crush on HIM when she was that age.
Fast forward to about 8-9 years ago, and we were at another buddy's wedding. After the reception ended, my friend goes a local bar to keep drinking. We were like 28/29 at the time. At that bar, he runs into a familiar face - the 12 year old girl who was always at the camp that her mom ran. Only now this girl was a 22/23 year old woman fresh out of college. They hit it off and he goes home with her. They started dating and have now been married for almost 4 years.
She never crossed his mind, but she had a childhood crush on him for a couple summers. Now they're married. Did he groom her?
