Guys it’s okay, he apologized and said he was sleepy. Who amongst us hasn’t gone on a weeks long anti semitic tirade after not catching enough Z’s the night before
i don't know if i'd want them to remove kanye's music. not sure i like the precedent that sets, if anytime an artist says something terrible spotify will get pressure to drop them from the service. if a song itself contains hate speech that's a different story.
what other acts have they removed? in the article it only mentions they briefly removed XXXTenacion and R. Kelly from their editorial and algorithmic playlists but then reverted.

I was gonna say, those were ones that popped into my head. But I think saying they cant just remove it isnt the way to go about it. He couldve said "at this time we dont feel it is appropriate to take such action". Dont try to wash your hands and say you cant, but like you said, no reason to pull it anyway. Would be interesting to see what happens if Kanye dares to release a song with any lyrics tied to all this though. Would he be bold enough to do that though. Or maybe scam people into buying his stem player thing to get the song.
Get help if anyone needs it. But that’s long since become irrelevant to a discussion of what an A#1 asshole he is. No more bailouts. He’s aware of what he’s doing and chooses to say what he says. So does Donald Trump, Kid Rock and Ted Nugent. ———- But but but nothing. Fuck that antisemetic piece of shit and all idiots who support what he says or defends him or harkens back to when…. Fuck em.
I love that Kanye is losing everything. I don’t usually enjoy canceling people but this one feels right.
i'll speak for myself, but maybe my feelings are similar to others on inforoo as well. this particular celebrity downfall hits a certain way because of the singular nature of kanye. he was the biggest rock star of my life, and he was a rock star like we used to think of old school rock stars. he was keith moon throwing TVs out of balconies into the hotel pool 4 stories below, he was ozzy osbourne biting the head off a bat, only instead of throwing TVs or biting bats he was saying "george bush doesn't care about black people" live on TV, or insisting he was a genius on the level of walt disney or albert einstein or whatever. every time i turned around kanye was saying or doing something totally outrageous, and this in contrast to the quickly softening image of the post-90s rock stars, your more family friendly and all around good guys like Dave Grohl.
and i lapped all this individualist ego gone wild with total glee, not just because i loved kanye, but because so many other people hated kanye. that made it more fun, especially because for decades kanye just kept winning and winning and winning. he completely changed what was cool in hip-hop production, the minute i heard "Through The Wire" for the first time i could feel the tectonic plates of music shifting underneath me. i won't go through his whole discography, but we know it was hit after hit from there up through MBDTF with it's perfect Pitchfork score which I think meant something at the time. his SNL performances were legendary, as were his live shows. his sneaker line was the most important new brand since Jordans. he married the woman of his dreams. kanye played the most important role in making the music nerd / music critic world at large take hip-hop seriously as a genre, so much so that it seems insane there was a time when it wasn't taken seriously. and i also think he made it possible for other black fashion designers to be taken seriously.
i kind of touched on this earlier, but as most musicians got better and better at carefully crafting their public image, there was something so provocative and visceral about the way kanye just said shit without giving a fuck. which is all well and good until he starts saying shit that i give a fuck about. i won't go into everything 2016 and moving forward, but it was a slow, upsetting process for a fan to see him descend into whatever he is in now, and it hurts worse because i spent time defending him on the internet and IRL, and I did so with such happy fervor because for the longest time all the signals around me were telling me i was correct: kanye was a genius and knew exactly what he was doing, and everyone who disagrees is wrong.
so while i can't say i am truly "happy" to see kanye's cancellation, i am at least hopeful that if he keeps losing things, eventually there is a rock bottom for him somewhere that shakes his ego enough to where he turns to somebody for help. i know this seems unlikely, but it would be absolutely incredible if kanye got well, made true amends for his nonsense and had a redemption arc. because i don't think it would be a bullshit redemption arc carefully designed by highly paid celebrity management, i think it'd be kanye showing up unannounced with Pharrell and Seth Rogen for some reason at TMZ or somewhere shouting some insane apology, retracting his previous comments with a smile on his face then playing his new record in it's entirety.
I never liked him and I don’t feel bad about it at all.
SAME.
He never did anything for me, whether it was his music, fashion, opinions, etc.
Always puzzled me why so many agreed with his assertion that he is/was a "musical genius." But this downward spiral of his into total bigotry and racism is so fucked up. I wonder if he'll ever snap out of it, or if he will keep doubling down until everyone (aside from the far-right) disowns him.

Ultimately I believe in restorative justice. There’s no benefit to cancelling someone without accountability & reconstruction. If we want the world to be a better place, that means seeing someone face the consequences of their actions AND accepting any and all proportional amends.
I have yet to see it in most cancellation cases, but maybe someone else can remember a time where someone came back in the RIGHT way from making horrible choices.

I always thought it was pretty gross the way whenever someone gets cancelled all the people who never liked them for reasons completely unrelated to why they got cancelled get real chuffed about it.
