I have a feeling this whole festival is going to implode on itself.
Don't you think if all these bands were gonna drop out they would have done it by now? The longer we go the more the general public is just gonna forget/not care about this whole thing.
There's like three small bands on that boycott that anyone has even heard of and they were never playing anyway.
i have to wonder how many people have heard of this fest at all. still might go because of nonotak/jamie and a couple of others, but it seems like a half baked sonar combined with any generic fest. I love the musical names but theres nothing worse than a festival with no vibe, which i feel like this might have.

i mean it’s a festival on the Las Vegas strip
At worst it’s $100 to catch a few acts and then spend some time in motherfucking Vegas baby

This is how I justified it. Probably a high likelihood of some really cool art exhibits. Catch 4 or so acts a day and then party in Vegas for the rest of it. What’s not to like about that?

Personally time is in incrediblly short supply atm so it's fun to nitpick at fests even though it would prolly be a good time no matter what. But more wondering about the general public perception, sales #s and stuff. Irl knowledge of this fest is low

It's basically a cool tech conference concert that's been expanded to include the general public.
Do as you please, but I'm pretty excited to see middle-aged men in khakis and polos with sweet lanyards singing along to Beck's Loser next to a 21 year old UNLV communications major in a Bugs Bunny TuneSquad jersey.
No. But the giant ball pit would definitely be a turning point if I was considering it. Buying from Amazon has already condemned my soul to hell. How’s a little festival going to make it worse?

This. From the video in their "about" page it seems like it's a conference afterparty that's happened since 2012 (Skrillex, Thievery Corporation, Future Islands, and Zedd have played it) and this year it's being advertised as a music festival. Worst case scenario they just won't be open to the public next year IMO.

Most of the bands probably didnt even know about the whole Amazon ICE crap until yesterday when all those bands signed on to that pledge thing.
Now they know, and I would suspect a few will consult their teams and drop out because of it.

literally half the internet is using amazon servers lmao. Isn’t the whole ICE thing just random company on amazon servers that ICE uses? The Black Madonnas website is on amazon servers.

Yup, it's just a third party company working for ICE using AWS. That's the thing about that stupid pledge and all those artists signing it don't even make any research about the situation.
I got into an argument with The Black Madonna couple days ago on Twitter and told her to just play this fest donate the money she'd get from playing this for those organizations and that would make a bigger statement, and she responded that she already donates her money from her merch and that even if she donates the fee from the fest, "the people who pay to see her would be a part of it." This is beyond stupid.

no clue. im not arguing that the backlash is justified or not. just saying i think more artists will feel pressured to drop.

Tbh, I don’t buy that. Too many artists are taking into consideration the business deals they have with Amazon to let this backlash affect them. It’ll blow over as everything does in this 24 hour media cycle.
