Thursday looks fun.
With California Deathfest making its return to the bay that same weekend... I may try to convince my wife to do Thursday of Aftershock and the weekend at CDF. Already have some great tickets to Maiden down in SD the weekend before and I'm sure Judas Priest will come around to So-Cal within a few months if not that same weekend. Days 2 and 4 of Aftershock are pretty big meh's for me.

I'm in for Day 1. Slayer is one of my all-time fave bands and I could not be happier that they're doing shows again. Was at the last 2 shows at the Forum and felt like they still had plenty of gas in the tank. No way I'm shelling out almost $500 for the full weekend tho. Some good names sure but overall not where my taste is at.

There's some validity to the points but this "teh metal is dying" stuff has been around for decades. The fact that they can even pull off Wimmer fests is a testament to the fact that the genre always has a market.

this is why i appreciate bands like amon amarth who will sometimes play big arenas (at least in LA) and bring some pretty extreme billings with them on tour
