Surely this has to act as some form of confirmation they'll be at ACL. Entirely skipping Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio and not being at ACL would make 0 sense. Sounds to me like they'll be there.
It's crazy they don't have a Colorado date listed. That's a swing state. Bet they'll pop up in October too. Maybe redrocks?
So fucking weird that they are going overseas at all - but especially in September???
The fact they ducked Lolla Chicago worried me for this, but then they hook up with Lolla in Berlin???
I mean the rest of the world is fucked up too it's not just us. They came back to social media with a photo of Chilean protests
You are right, I suppose I am being very ugly-american with that comment.
But still September, so close to the U.S. election, I'd figure they'd hit other countries after Coachella, but I guess it all just depended on getting the right scheduling.

Rage at Red rocks sounds hilarious. The mosh pits on the bleachers would be way too brutal. I'm from SD and found it weird they bypassed CO too, and found it even weirder they are even playing Sioux Falls in SD. Rage in South Dakota is the biggest concert this state has had since we had Elton some years back. People are freaking out they're stopping here.
I'm not complaining. Glad i'll get to see RATM whether or not they'll be at ACL.

Well, the last time they played Lolla in 2008, they had to stop the show 3 times and a woman basically got dragged out of the crowd bc she got crushed, so after that, Lolla was probably like “thanks, but no thanks”.

They threatened to leave if people didn't chill out and also a hundred or so people rushed a gate to get into the festival grounds. I wasn't in the crowd because I had a splitting headache.
It was pretty wild, but I wouldn't say that was anything about Lolla in particular. Could happen anywhere. We're all 12 years older, too, and most people there were older than I am.

if travis scott can tell people to rush the stage and hop the barricade at lolla then come back 3 years later to headline, i don’t think a rowdy crowd is that big of an issue.
I know people give shit to TOP here but I saw them from far last year at Lolla and was barricade center for The Strokes after waiting for hours and TOP were like a million times better, and I dont even stan them. The Strokes just show up to cash a check, they dont even try to pretend they are happy. Only dude in that entire band that loves is job is probably Albert

They were amazing at the Bernie rally monday but maybe it was an exception since Julian is so passionate about his campaign. I'd love to see them again though

Not to mention Julian was absolutely bombed and ranting for a good amount of that set. Albert was ridiculous. I don't care for TOP's music but you could tell they at least care a lot about their live performances when we were there.

I've heard some of their shows are really good. Seems they are very hit or miss.
I think Julian Casablancas just isnt a charasmatic frontman. Whenever I've seen them they've bad awesome aside from some weird rumblings from him but whatever.

I haven't seen The Strokes since 2011, but I saw them twice that year, and both performances were extremely phoned-in. As in showing up 20 minutes late to a 90-minute performance and still ending 10 minutes early while just generally playing like they didn't want to be there. I feel like a ton of their mystique is purely based upon their infrequent and unpredictable touring habits. Those guys all clearly hate each other too. (Although nothing will be as bad as Julian solo before the Voidz name was established, that was rough.)
Tbh sans a few shows in the 2010s before 2016 the strokes were pretty bad live and genuinely seemed like they didn’t care but ever since that GovBall show something has changed. Both times I’ve seen them were amazing and based on videos they seem to enjoy it now. Also Julian either took vocal lessons or started using very subtle live auto tune because he sounds way better

I was on the rail for that show. It's where I learned (again and again) that the "crossed arms" gesture by the security guard means "MEDIC!"
Zach: "Brothers and Sisters... Brothers and Sisters... can everybody just take a few steps back... " Me: Enjoying the few moments of respite before the crushing begins again.
That show for me was just constantly lifting people over the barrier so they could get out, for like 75 minutes straight. If you asked me which songs they played I could not tell you with any level of confidence. It was a great show, though.

The only time I've ever actively enjoyed the Strokes live was at the Pearl Jam Twenty festival, where Julian was engaged and definitely trying to do his best while hero-worshipping Eddie Vedder. He smiled, had a great time, wasn't drunk off his ass. I kinda liked him those two days!
