A notable aside is how much loud mouthed Inforoo hate Bonnaroo got for the 2016 booking. We should all be fully aware that Roo fucked up by not getting the Dead just before dissolution (and before takeover by Live Nation in 2016 who announced the purchase of their controlling interest in April 2015 after the 2015 Roo lineup was out). But it turned out that Dead and Company are still pretty damned good even if viewed as a partial shadow of the [tm] Dead. I had so many of my children's friends tell me how much they enjoyed those sets. These are people who may have heard A Touch of Grey if that. I watched them on Red Bull TV which used to stream Bonnaroo, and I thought it was a good festival close.
Cant think of a suitable Pre Headliner for George that is touring.
Maybe Dolly.....
i would say Luke Combs given the gap in his tour but I think he’s too big to sub.
maybe but ACL is huge. Billie subbed for the Cure last year, Combs subbing for Strait is something that his manager couldn't be like nah headline or bust, that's a huge show for him
they’re doing five shows at Stubbs at the end of this month but honestly, i could still see them popping up on the lineup just because they’re a big austin band.

Don't think the Stubbs shows make them less likely sine they are sold out and 4 of them were rescheduled from last year.
I was lucky enough to catch George at a hurricane benefit show he did at Moody Theater back in 2019. Extremely intimate (maybe 400-500 tops?) and he ran through a full 2 hour. I was glad to knock that off my bucket list.
i’ve been lucky enough to see him twice (once in 2010, once in 2014) and both times were incredible. the second show probably passed 3 hours long and he was *still* barely scratching the surface of all his great stuff.
