I appreciate the tenacity, Psycho. I also think it's too early to call. I feel like this is at the mercy of MGM deciding if the the casinos are open by then.
I'm not freaking out yet. It's not even April yet. There's a long time between now and August.
yeah i gotta imagine the casino gets the ultimate call there
On the plus side, there's less prep work for the production of the festival. In terms of stages and whatnot. I mean it's gonna be the casino and not their call. I doubt any resort will be closed longer than need be, but still.
I haven't checked in a few days but I don't think they've cancelled Smokeout next month. Maryland Death says "cancelling ISN'T an option" and Roadburn hasn't given up yet either. Nice to see the metal community take a stance after the whole world has said "this isn't about saving us, this is about saving you".
That seems super optimistic, but I hope Vegas and the rest of the country can bounce back asap.
I agree it seems optimistic.
I have a strangely deep love for Las Vegas. Went there for my honeymoon, wife and I have been twice since, and we know we'll be back again. Sad and eerie to see videos of the strip so empty, and just awful for all the people the casinos employ.

I guess I could read through the thread, but does anyone want to give me the logistical layout of this festival? Where are the stages, how do they control access, what's the schedule like, etc.
I could just Google this info but if any of y'all feel like typing go for it.

Dude I totally feel you on this...
My wife and I MET in Las Vegas, once upon a time in 2012 through mutual friends that happened to be in Vegas the same weekend. Also, we hit it off while staying at the Hard Rock (rest in peace).
We usually make it out there 1-2 times a year, and it'll always have a special place in our hearts...So seeing what's happened there, although we are not locals, has been quite saddening and shocking.
But we all have to do our part to get ahead of this...Hopefully the economic consequences will not be lasting.

for our second trip to vegas we had our first meal at Nobu at the Hard Rock. Easily a top five meal of my life. After dinner we saw Nine Inch Nails like 50 feet away at the theater. What a night that was.

Very nice! We also went to a NIN show out at Hard Rock back in Dec. 2018...I think it was night 2 or 3 (whatever the last night was) at The Joint. Amazing fucking set, one of the best...
Decided today that if they offer a refund or keep your ticket, I'm just gonna let it rollover. Especially if they can snag Mercyful Fate and Ulver again.
I can afford it though. Hoping if you need a refund, they offer refunds.

We may let it ride too...We were 100% set on this, so if/when it gets scrubbed, we will just reload for 2021!
So the cancellation clock gets pushed back to August. Feel like it's only a matter of time before September fests bow out too.
Oh, I knew this was gonna get canceled. You're fooling yourself if you think you're going to a festival in 2020. Concert, maybe, but definitely no festival.

Yeah. It's one of those things I know, but I cannot let myself fully accept yet. This was the first year in a while that I was actually looking to have money to do stuff, so it's a little harder to let go of.
