I actually called it right that Tame was not going to be there. Wow that lineup is appalling. I need a Rage solo NY show now because a single day to this garbage is not what I'm looking to do.
LOL Maroon 5 would somehow be an upgrade to this if they were there

Gonna get a day pass to see Rage for sure. Maybe two of the under cards that I like will play that day too. Wife would like to get day pass for Billie after only seeing half her set at ACL. We shall see

The EDM on this lineup is fucking solid with RL Grime, CloZee, Space Jesus and others past your typically big names like Illenium and Diplo. Not a horrible lineup but I would have liked slightly more indie and rap and less pop.
I was honestly worried. This is the first year since year one that I wasn’t going to be attending. After seeing this lineup, I’m relieved. Definitely stand by my decision to go to Shaky instead.
Rage is cool, but I’m not really a fan. I love Smashing Pumpkins a slot more.
I can’t believe how big of a whiff this lineup is, even with Rage.
Now it’s just a question of whether the Rage stan’s that have come out of the woodwork are still willing to spend on this.
No Tame is also hilarious. People were so looking forward to that. Talk about a let down.
And like someone on reddit pointed out, bands like Grouplove and Cold War Kids are there every year. Lump them in with your Awolnation/DCFC/Young the Giant’s. Do these bands really need to play there so often?
It’s not that I dislike them, but when was the last time Grouplove released a noteworthy album that people outside of the fan base heard and were into? They definitely peaked with the first album back in what, 2011? Even Blink 182, it’s like, they were just there in 2016. What have they done since then that warrants seeing them again?
Idk. Justify how you want but it’s definitely not great, and we’re it not for Rage this lineup would be so bland.
I really think Rage stan’s will buy tickets though. It’s dumb and sad but they’ll buy into it and keep this train running wildly off the rails. And maybe the college demo will support the mediocre lineup as well. Like I said, they care more about partying anyways.

This is a surprisingly solid line up if you ask me. There are some total duds (Lil Dicky? Blink-182? Really?) but Rage is a nice touch and say what you want about Billie and Halsey but they’re both excellent performers.
Lots of great EDM and hidden gems in the undercard too.
I think Firefly's biggest issue is their refusal to add more indie rock over alternative rock. I'm from Philly and this is basically a Radio 1045 fest. Just the same bands we've all seen over and over. Not bad, just not new and different. I can't listen to any iHeartRadio station anymore because they lack variety. I switched to XPN and haven't looked back. There are so many amazing indie bands on every festival lineup other than Fireflys.
