This is going to sell extremely within the 16-23 crowd. Halsey looks so bizarre as a headliner tho, didn’t hear new album just flop in regards to sales?
Billie will get all the kids and their parents there.
I think Firefly's biggest issue is their refusal to add more indie rock over alternative rock. I'm from Philly and this is basically a Radio 1045 fest. Just the same bands we've all seen over and over. Not bad, just not new and different. I can't listen to any iHeartRadio station anymore because they lack variety. I switched to XPN and haven't looked back. There are so many amazing indie bands on every festival lineup other than Fireflys.
XPN is solidly curated for the most part. I'd rather chance hearing something whacky on there then the same 100 songs trying to sell me "alternative" quack on Radio 104.5
I was going to this prior to seeing the lineup based on plans with friends already being in motion. Initial reactions to the lineup: We got Rage, whew. No Tame? ... ok whatever. Blink-182 is cool for me, I like their new album and missed them on tour. Cage again? Cold War Kids again? Grouplove again? These sets tend to be in the big overlap slots so I'm sure there will be something cool going on at the same time. David Lee Roth will be a fun change of pace, I bet his band is stellar. Run the Jewels are dope and will bring out ZDLR assuming they're the same day. Boys Noize, CloZee, Space Jesus are outside-the-box bookings for Firefly. Illenium and Diplo are right-on-the-demo and I've seen both requested on Reddit/Facebook a bunch. I would have traded both for Skrillex or Bassnectar in a heartbeat but oh well.
come on man this is their worst lineup for this board's tastes ever by a longshot
This is an interesting take. I'd wonder if it's actually worse than 2017. For some reason everyone had their hopes way high this year. This feels pretty par-for-the-course. Not the bounce-back year expected, but it's a Firefly lineup with Rage on top.
Just because people pay for shit doesn’t mean it’s quality.
Everyone here justifying it is delusional. Having gone every year, I’m finally glad to be free of this sub par Festival.
I’m not saying it’s the worst lineup ever released, but there’s too many repeat acts. If you’ve been to more than 3 Firefly’s you’ve probably seen a bunch of those bands already. It’s not worth paying for anymore.
And people always say “well I’m in it to discover the undercard” but it’s like, there are much better undercard’s out there to explore.
If this is the only festival you can do, then that’s cool. Do it up and enjoy it.
But stop sugarcoating a piece of shit. It’s average at best, even with Rage. Saying anything else is just bullshit.

Will be really curious to see how this breaks down by day. Only really interested in seeing Rage, Blink, Cage, Illenium, RTJ, Chvrches, RKS, Grouplove, The Struts, Big Boi & White Reaper. If they could all be scheduled for the same day that'd be great & save me some bills lol. Grouplove & Cage have played before but are at least fun live sets. Cold War Kids is weak. They play every other year & if you've seen em once you've seen em enough. Dayglow @ a fest is pretty rad ngl. Overall, massive dissapointment & worst lineup they've ever put out. How are Halsey, Khalid & Maggie Rogers headliner level? Halsey is a dime a dozen coked up pop princess, Maggie has a nice voice but is boring live (I guess opening for Mumford means you can headline now? Smh), & Khalid put the Roo crowd to sleep in 2018. This fest used to get really big name acts & have a huge undercard filled with lots of talented acts. Now its just a random mess of people with decent Spotify plays. Such a joke. Then instead of going with the Rolling Stones, the Who, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, the Cure, Elton John or Roger Waters (who are all available for an old timers slot) they decide to pay David Lee Roth who can't sing anymore to lead a Van Halen kareoke session. DLR is legit playing dive bars & seedy clubs & they wanna put him on a fest stage? Gimme Billy Idol, Cheap Trick, or Liam Gallagher over DLR. Motley Crue is going on a world tour this summer & fits the Rage crowd more why not try to land them? I'm 27. Maybe if I was 17 I'd be pumped for this lineup. Shaky Knees, Gov Ball & Roo much more appealing.

”Hey if this is your thing and you like this, that’s great! Also, fuck you.”
Looks as bad as it always is, the weird thing is expecting a good lineup here at this point.
The first five years of this festival built up pretty high expectations, apparently it’s going to take about as long to dismantle all that clout. The contract with Dover raceway ends conveniently in 2022.
03/14 - Thievery Corporation 04/25 - Black Country, New Road 05/04 - In Flames, Gatecreeper 05/10 - Modern Life is War 05/21 - Spite, Bodysnatcher, Thrown 05/29 - Knocked Loose, Loathe, Show me the Body, Speed 06/02 - Bush 06/22 - George Thorogood 06/23 - Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb
These Rage shows are a hugeeeee money grab. There’s nothing on this lineup that would appeal to someone between 32-38 that would want to go see Rage.
Does their management even look at the rest of the lineup?
Why? So they can preach to the choir?
Coachella, Boston Calling, Firefly have tons of college kids. It makes sense they want to branch out the message to the new generation and attempt to motivate.... problem they might run into is the aggressive Rage mentality from the 90's does not mesh well with the general population of kids of the 2010's... 2020 is the beginning of a new era though!
Also, add RATM to Metallica and Tool as bands Cage the Elephant will open for that do not sync at all, and may get booh'd by the diehard fans.

Feel like we're thinking too highly of rage and them wanting to spread their message to a college aged audience. Really feel like they were willing to play just about any festival given there were enough zeros on the end of the paycheck.
