I would say someone should make a clashfinder for this, but with no day-by-day breakdowns, and only 78 artists spread across 4 days and 5 stages.. how? I don't understand, if the lineup is incomplete then they should say ADDITIONAL ARTISTS TBA, or something. How were there ~50% more artists last year without a Thursday lineup? People are not talking about this enough.
I think the biggest factor here will turn out to be the removal of a stage or two. Hopefully longer set times but I'm not holding my breath.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
Would this thing sell out if the top line was this?
RATM • Billie Eilish • My Chemical Romance
It would definitely come close I think. MCR is selling out everything, and there hasn't been any other East Coast dates yet for RATM except Boston Calling.
Really hoping Firefly releases the day-by-day lineup in the next couple weeks, like Governor's Ball, so I know what I'm in for when I snag a single day ticket for Rage, including the price. I also suspect that the single day lineup will reveal a completely new lineup for Thursday, but that's just conjecture.
03/14 - Thievery Corporation 04/25 - Black Country, New Road 05/04 - In Flames, Gatecreeper 05/10 - Modern Life is War 05/21 - Spite, Bodysnatcher, Thrown 05/29 - Knocked Loose, Loathe, Show me the Body, Speed 06/02 - Bush 06/22 - George Thorogood 06/23 - Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb

Hopelessly praying Foals is the Thursday headliner before heading to Europe to play two days later
There has to be at least 20 artists TBA, even if they push the time for opening gates later, extend set times, and cut the number of stages.. Let's see.

Local Natives was the Thursday headliner in 2014, it'd be nice to see the Local Natives/Foals (either/both) tour fill out the Thursday lineup this year.

I e-mailed Firefly a couple days ago, to ask if more acts would be added given that there's ~30 less acts this year compared to last year, which was one day shorter. They said that "No need to fret-- your daily lineup will still be as stacked as ever. We just plan to have a little less over-lap between sets this year!" which I'd guess means there will be less stages.
Wasn’t going to happen but Cage is not the Thursday headliner with new show announcement on the 18th. Hopefully they get the Passion Pit late night spot from last year.

They will probably take away the Roost. Which would suck. Maybe the beercade would come back though?

Any chance this thing sells out? Wondering if I should buy now or wait to get something on the cheap?
And is VIP worth it?
Doubt it sells out. Whatever day Rage plays may sell out for the daily passes, especially if it's Saturday.
For VIP, it's definitely worth it to me. Not waiting in line to get in makes a huge difference over the course of a weekend (ESPECIALLY if you are coming in from the South entrance). Being able to cut through the Backyard/Prism stage and Lawn stage is a huge benefit too. There are other benefits. Free water bottles, the sectioned off viewing for the three big stages. The biggest though to me is just never having to wait in line for anything. Also for the headliners, being able to simply walk into VIP a few minutes before they start and being closer than 75% of the people in GA is pretty awesome too.
At this point I'm expecting a total of 5 stages (down from 6) with 5-6 artists per stage per day (down from 6-9), and even with that adjustment there should be an extra 4-5 artists tba, not including a Thursday lineup.. There's either a good amount of artists tba or there might only be 4 stages Friday-Sunday, which would be the first time Firefly has had that few stages since their inaugural year. As it is, there's only a few more artists than there were in 2013, which was only a three day lineup.

So who paid $250+ to see Rage and who will I see at firefly?
I'm trying to make the trek down from NY for a day pass to Rage on Friday. Hoping for something nice from the undercard crap that day (Chvrches, Blink or Maggie, RKS, not much else honestly)
So since Rage is touring with RTJ, and they're booked on the same day for the two other festivals that have announced Rage so far, I'd say it's pretty much locked in that RTJ is playing the same day as Rage at Firefly.

Rage doing DC, 2 New York shows, and Camden/Philly. That booking takes a major hit.
This happens with at least 1-2 FF headliner every year. I even said a page or 2 back to someone trying to justify the lineup that we will see Rage all over the northeast and it won’t appeal as much. However, I hate BBT so I’ll prob try to hit this up for their day since it’ll be cheaper and I can see more music.
I frankly think that moshing to Rage at the Firefly main stage will be a better experience than seeing them from seats in an arena.
agreed. I just moved to Philly from SD and as far as sheds go, ours is actually great. from what i've seen of BB&T, I am NOT looking forward to having to see shows there. would much rather do Firefly for Rage.

I personally have enjoyed every show I have ever seen at BB&T. There's not really a bad sightline there. If you're not looking forward to it because of the venue being in Camden then you should go into it with open expectations. The waterfront is a lot different from say Northeast Camden. Police also line the way in and the only way out

actually has nothing to do with Camden, just has to do with all the photos i've seen of the venue. our amphitheatre in SD is beautiful and there isn't a bad seat in the house, I was worried the roof over the seats would ruin sightlines, only been to a couple venues like that (Mansfield & maybe Shoreline?) but i'm very glad to hear i'm wrong.
I actually walk down to Penns Landing multiple times a week just to be by the water and look at BB&T, the aquarium and the Sixers facility. can't wait to get my first cheesesteak from Donkeys in Camden. being across the border from Tijuana and spending plenty time there I am not put off by any stigma that comes from places.
BBT is a dump. The only upgrades LN has ever made are those VIP lounges. The sound sucks if you’re on the lawn and the screens are laughable. I was at the Beck/Cage show in a seat and the sound was crap since we were all the way against the wall. Getting to and from is also a shitshow to the point it’s not even worth going. Parking alone is 40$ which is a joke. Taking the ferry is over is cool but coming home it takes forever.
