I get what is being said about the age stuff and all the nearby universities but they advertise this festival to the Baltimore, DC, Philadelphia, Jersey and even in recent years New York markets as well. In the release video 2019 it even said “Less than 2 hours away from these locations”. There’s more than just the college kids they are targeting. I would think/hope
or or orrr....hear me out...a pro for everyone 25+
Fine with me! We enjoyed FF’s 2013-2016. There was generally plenty of good rock, indie, rap and EDM for everyone’s tastes. We’d return for a lineup like those years.
If I was a college kid within 3 hours of Firefly I’d think about skipping that Friday afternoon class and arriving The Woodlands in time for 97% of the best stuff...
Firefly is young but there are certainly festivals with even younger demos (Gov Ball).
GovBall implemented the chaperone rule though for underage attendees in 2020, which I assume would also remain for this year. They also have an advantage in that it's a city festival, whereas Firefly is a destination fest that markets itself as a massive campout party.

Can’t speak for the under 18 crowd, but I don’t think Firefly will struggle with the college market this year. If people want to go, they’ll make it happen one way or another. There is so much demand for festivals this year.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
Nope. Other Festival’s happening in September like Riot Fest and louder Than Life have already announced that their lineups are coming sometime in May. Pilgrimage is hinting at news coming this week as well. I’d give it til toward the end of May to start worrying.

Voodoo fest still hasn’t said a word either.
Agreed- Firefly's held out in the past. The famous 2015 lineup, featuring Paul McCartney, finally announced only four months before the fest. It sold out all 90,000 tickets, never even offering daily tickets.
Obviously this year's gonna be strange, with so many artists' tours not even set yet. The longer they wait, the better the lineup possibilities...hopefully. Governor's Ball is the same weekend, so I expect lots of crossover, but that may further complicate/delay an announcement.
The bigger worry- will there be enough pent-up demand to support two similar festivals, same weekend, only 4 hours apart?

Riot already announced their initial lineup. Will be announcing final and MCR replacement in a couple weeks.
I mean, did we really think Cage would not be playing? Firefly is basically their festival residency
They were on the original Sea. Hear. Now. Lineup and are not any more. I was under the assumption they weren’t doing shows this year, But now they have two
I'll say this, from these lineup drops it seems like a lot of these festivals are going to look very similar. There's a chance that Firefly is different because of AEG, but my gut says that its going to look very similar to Roo and Gov Ball
Keys more likely. DMB, who the fuck knows. They don't easily fit in the Firefly brand/aesthetic.
I kinda doubt it really makes the Keys anymore likely than before. Franklin Tennessee is a 25 minute drive from Nashville where they both live now and it's their only scheduled live date for the whole year so far. Looks more like a one off

Appreciate you keeping my expectations in check, lol
Welp, turns out my hotel booking for this is non-refundable thru Expedia ... hoping it comes together. I am feeling pretty good about it but the radio silence is a bit annoying (i'd say concerning but this seems to be the new Firefly M.O.).
