This festival has booked PAUL MCCARTNEY, Chili peppers and Tom Petty in its second year, and Foos while on hiatus. This festival booked Arctic Monkeys and Billie Eilish even though they were touring overseas during the month of June. They booked OutKast(Bonnaroo didn’t even do that). This festival had a year with 5 headliners and then 4 headliners. Though Pearl Jam and NIN may not happen this festival has proven they can pretty much book anyone imo

Cmon. RATM was going to play. But we can’t book NIN?
For those floating Nine Inch Nails, I will remind you of the 2020 Firefly lineup:
The EDM booking in this is such a good fit for Firefly. If I had my way, they would swap out Diplo for a live Gryffin set. Keep literally everything else.

NIN wouldn't be top 3, but could easily be top 6 (in the same large font format as was used last year for Khalid and Maggie Rogers). Put them in the 2016 Deadmau5 slot, or even in the 2019 Passion Pit slot at midnight. Fucking done.

I mean, who would you say is the most comparable act to play this festival to Nine Inch Nails? Not like musically necessarily but like in terms of critical acclaim/cost/age. Maybe Morrissey? It just seems to be a no-shot in hell thing to me. Outkast was a surprise, but Outkast played everything except Roo that year.

Can't think of a precedent at this time, but AEG has done weirder things in the past at their festivals (e.g., Sigur Ros at Hangout). I realize that it doesn't really make sense on paper, but it very well could happen as a package deal with Pixies on the same day. Then put Foo Fighters on a different day, and the aforementioned alt-rock crowd will have a reason to buy weekend passes.

yeah as someone who has been to stand alone concerts for each, Foo Fighters fans are very different than Nine Inch Nails fans
Sounds like the majority of you have never been in a NIN crowd before. It can't be stated enough how much the average Firefly attendee differs from that. When I last saw NIN in Camden, two bikers in leather quacked in front of me on the lawn and everyone cheered them on.
With that being said, I would love for it to happen, but keeping expectations low for Firefly is always better

I’ve seen them three times. Once was at Panorama Festival. Frank Ocean and Tame Impala where the other headliners. Sure it was in NYC but they were pretty much an “out of place” booking compared to anyone else on the lineup that year. Packed Crowds still showed up to see all three headliners. Again I don’t think it’s gonna happen and I’m with ya on keeping expectations low but the “crowd” being what keeps a NIN or a PJ away from this festival seems like a stretch. Especially when we’ve booked bands as big as RATM and Paul McCartney. Shit even Morrisey and Bob Dylan have played the festival. Why can’t NIN?
Its funny how people doubt the powers and wallet at AEG on what they can and cant do. If theyre punting on Coachella then all their energy is going into this and that could include random af bookings cause they got nothing else to do.

forever kicking myself for not going to Pano that year, one of the best sets of headliners ive ever seen

I love this optimistic thinking but this fest can definitely go either way. Last years lineup was pretty safe. And again ... David Lee Roth lol.

Just want to make sure I’m following the argument here. NIN announced some shows that they said were their only headlining sets of the year, but they might play Firefly as sub for Foo Fighters because Trent and Dave are friends and AEG is bored and once booked Sigur Ros at Hangout as part of a larger US tour. Is that correct?
