Seeing how badly the Everything Now tour sold, I wouldn't count on Arcade Fire being at Firefly headliner level for 2022.
Cause after 10 years of being an arena/festival headline band theyre just going to get demoted, right. I guess Firefly is just a lot bigger of a deal than having headlined Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lolla and ACL in the past.
Like you said, that was all in the past. Headliners/arena acts get demoted in status all the time. I saw Arcade Fire twice on their last American tours and the first time they only filled an arena by 50% and then the second time at a Live Nation amphitheatre, they only sold 3,500 tickets out of a capacity of 25,000. That no longer makes them headliner material for any big American multigenre fest.

I don’t see Arcade Fire getting demoted, but they’d have to be more selective about where and when they play. Part of the problem with the last tour was it was just too many dates. They got get comfortable with being the Strokes now

It does seem like one of Firefly's demos is younger millennials who were into emo and pop rock which Arcade Fire fits into a similar way to the Killers. I think they could still headline and they'd probably just be cheaper.

I've been to this festival four times and I actually don't think Arcade Fire fits the demo tbh

Just figure they're in the same ballpark as like Arctic Monkeys, the Killers, Muse, Vampire Weekend, Death Cab, Weezer, Tame Impala, etc. Some acts they've billed high in recent years.

Yeah, they are, but the more critically acclaimed acts in that list have had sub-par crowds in recent years. The VW crowd in 2019 was pretty small, if I recall correctly, and many people around me were camping for Post.

The critics hated Everything Now so that's just more points for Arcade Fire.
If Arcade Fire puts out a non disco or electronic themed album and it's really well received, has a couple big singles, then I could see them being in Arenas and headlining fests again. Basically they need to put out an album even better and bigger than The Suburbs to rebound and I don't see that happening. If I were booking for firefly, I wouldn't have them headline, they'd maybe be a fourth and that's a stretch. They absolutely tanked this last album cycle in the Philadelphia area. You could get $10 tickets day of show for their Festival Pier gig, a sub 3500 cap space.
How about Arcade Fire for a Thursday headliner? Prior to this year’s big splash with Eyelash, Thursdays were for those “nice to see, but not the reason we’re going” kinda headliners. I recall circa 2013-14-15 lots of folks on the old Firefly forum clamoring for them- including me. Still haven’t seen them, but would love to. One clunker album shouldn’t negate their impressive catalogue...

I'm still kinda thinking Billie as the Thursday headliner was a scheduling thing because of the date changes. I'm not sure Firefly will continue having a true headliner in the Thursday spot.
So we held out until all the big fests announced, and after seeing lineups from Lolla, ACL, Shaky and GovBall, we like Firefly’s more and more- second to only Bonnaroo- for our tastes. We are IN for Fall Firefly!
Anyone care to guess when we’ll see the daily lineup? I’m guessing that when the supposed 45-50,000 attendance limit is lifted, they’ll announce daily lineups and make daily passes available.

The decision has already been made to not lift the attendance above the current capacity regardless of the state of things. If day passes are part of that 50k, I would say it's a VERY small number, but I'd be shocked if they're offered at all.

Funny they post this on social media right after you posted this “Not a ‘single day passes’ when we don’t think about this feeling.” The demand for daily passes seems to be high. Why wouldn’t they make them available even if it’s a limited amount?

Since single days would be part of the 50k attendance it would be a very small amount available. With 2020 rollover tickets plus regular ticket sales and smaller attendance capacity it just makes single days tough. Like I said, IF they're offered it will be a VERY limited number.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
