The line system seemingly let people in at random, but the real problem was that the tiers didn’t refresh automatically, meaning that once tier 1 (which wasn’t advertised as such - I’m pretty sure there was no mention of the price tiers before 10am) sold out, the add to cart button would error people out and say the item was gone, which gave the impression that the whole festival was almost immediately sold out. For some folks (myself included) it wouldn’t update at all.
This also affected camping, particularly north camping, which took maybe half an hour to update to tier 2 after selling all of 1, so a lot of people wound up getting tickets and not being able to buy the most affordable camping option, or being forced to buy one of the upgrade options so that they would have a camping option at all. Our crew of 10 people were on standby and managed to get enough GA passes on tier 2, but it looked like north was just gone, so we ended up getting a group camping pass (which works, but wasn’t what we had planned).
Bloody hell
On a positive note riot fest is doing just about everything right
I think I may have been one of the first in line. My walking man took 3 minutes maybe. Got tier one GA, north Camping, and a spruce up pass. Took 10 minutes total. Sucks that many people had issues.

I had a similar issue. From 10am, it took about 15 or 20 minutes for the walking man to get to the end. When it did, they told me that they were no more of this item available for any of the GA tickets, including ones with the collectible, or with the water bottle. They were also no VIP, though there were platinum VIP or whatever it’s called ($2500).I kept trying maybe 20 times and I kept getting the same message. I sort of gave up, but after 10 or 15 minutes I happened to look again and I saw the menu with the GA at $319 (tier two). That was available and I was able to get those tickets. I guess it eventually refreshed, but I had no idea that that was how this was going to work. The message really made it seem like it was sold out.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
Yeah, what’s really crazy is that all VIP sold out in like 45 minutes on Friday. And then super VIP followed not much later. I thought it would sell quick but was still shocked.
Lolla lineup reinforcing my love for Firefly. Foos vs Killers is really close, but I lean Killers. Diplo/Rezz over Marshmello/Illenium any day. Not to mention the dual headliner model at Lolla - you can actually see every headliner at Firefly.

I also prefer Firefly over Lolla, but I do wish that Firefly had something opposite the headliner. Having no act to counter Panic at the Disco in 2019 was rough.

Always my favorite time to chill at The Brewery. There's normally about 20 people there and zero lines.

The Doghead Brewery? I thought there were barely any lines there during all of the 2019 edution... plus you then still can hear the headliner.

In 2014 they added Beck, and in 2016 they added Silversun Pickups and Jack Antonoff after allowing Stubhub to sponsor the coffeehouse stage. Generally speaking I wouldn't expect additions.
RAGE being confirmed for Boston Calling and having dates off for Firefly next summer seem to make them a lock to return in 2022. Add in a Halsey return and maybe the long overdue Arcade Fire set next year is possibly looking ok so far. Prediction number 1 Rage | Arcade Fire | Halsey
Im pretty sure Arcade Fire will be a headliner wherever they play. Firefly is known for squeezing in 4 headliners though so they could fit anywhere in the 2-4 position I suppose.

It'll probably be much easier to sign onto festivals after Halsey has her kid. Im sure how she tours will drastically change now.
Seeing how badly the Everything Now tour sold, I wouldn't count on Arcade Fire being at Firefly headliner level for 2022.
Cause after 10 years of being an arena/festival headline band theyre just going to get demoted, right. I guess Firefly is just a lot bigger of a deal than having headlined Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lolla and ACL in the past.
