Firefly 2021: September 23-26

Probably waiting on Coachella. I just hope it isn't literally just:

Maroon 5 - Lizzo - Tame Impala

That'd be pretty underwhelming.

Rage Travis and Frank for Coachella. Obviously you can’t expect Rage or Frank but I’m really hoping for one of those two.

I really doubt Rage is booked unless they just offered themselves up for like half a dozen festivals and Coachella was the only one that could leak/announce first.

If by some miracle they play Firefly, they are probably also playing:

Coachella (already announced)
Lolla
ACL
Voodoo?

With MCR not being a sub at Coachella I think it’s more likely that two of the headliners are Tame and MCR.

I’m assuming that they dropped out of Coachella because of placement. I guess they couldn’t drop the lineup because there are other acts on the Coachella lineup that are playing this. Maybe there is the off chance that Frank or Rage is playing this?

MCR not being at Coachella kind of blows up any expectations I had for the Firefly lineup. I have zero clue who might be on this lineup (which I see as a good thing) outside of maybe Illenium and Tame Impala. Who knows when this thing is even dropping at this point.

My Coachella crossover hopes -

Unrealistic: RATM, IDLES, Hatsune Miku, Thom Yorke, Yaeji, Fatboy Slim

Realistic: Run the Jewels, Caribou, Floating Points, BADBADNOTGOOD, Tchami, Carly Rae Jepsen, Masego, Doja Cat

The more lineups that come out with no MCR, the more I'm hoping Firefly jumps at the opportunity of being their first US Fest show.

So perfect for this demographic. Hopefully when talks fell apart over billing at Coachella, Goldenvoice said well we'll make you a headliner at our biggest East Coast fest instead.

Looks pretty good. If we did get stuck with Maroon 5 per their dates, could MCR (despite the Coachella rumors) wind up like The Killers in 2018 headlining-but-not-closing (or could Thursday, as a full day, have them or Lizzo as a real headliner)? 

Lower on the card but Bombay Bicycle Club posted they are doing an East Coast tour in June. Hoping they'll be in the mid-card somewhere

Worst case scenario:

tame Impala - Maroon 5 - Billie Elish

I'm not getting my hopes up that actually happens. It makes sense, but this is also Firefly. 

Well, if they dropped from Coachella because they weren't going to headline there and Firefly had already booked them as a headliner it wouldn't have really changed much no?

Halsey has dates free on June 19 and 20 (between shows in Charlotte and Cleveland), and isn't playing Philly...
