I'll take another please. Gotta grind out a paper before Thanksgiving break, so my ears deserve something new
xiu xiu - forget
I can't really say this is something I'll return to often, but they're definitely doing 1000% their own thing and I respect that.
Also (not that anyone asked), but I'm keeping a running Spotify playlist of the first song from each of these so whenever I want to explore, I can just hit shuffle and find something new. Feel free to follow along as this thread expands!
Recommend me an album please. I need a distraction, from my year end/decade end list distractions, from doing any house work.
My Arms, Your Hearse - Opeth
I don't do Metal much, but it made for a good soundtrack to my walk home. I remember I tasted some of their music when they were on the Bonnaroo 2011 lineup. Thank you for giving me something i don't normally listen to.
This wasn't really up my alley as a whole but a lot of the production was really pretty and I found myself bopping my head a lot. First time I've enjoyed something that sounds heavily Yung Lean/Clams Casino influenced.

glad you gave it a shot. Ecco2k new album is similar production but much more pop oriented than hip hop if you’re interested. Two of the songs produced by yves tumor as well
Generally I enjoyed this. The instrumentation was right up my alley. However there was a bit too much talking over the instruments as opposed to vocalizing or singing. Sometimes I don't mind this if the hook is good enough (see Blur - Parklife) but sometimes it takes me out of the song a bit.

Yeah I agree. I relistened to it after I recommended it to you and found the spoken portions a little taxing. Still like the album though
Listened twice. Really enjoyed the overall experience though Im not certain that I’ll return to it often.
Found it interesting that the title was a response to Marvin Gayes album.
If you aren't familiar, sly and the family stone's first 4 or 5 records are all excellent and you should definitely check them out (at least dance to the music and stand!. there's a riot going on, to me, is remarkable because it's a political, lyrically dark album at times, but packaged in some of the best funk music ever.
