Why didn't anyone tell me Jason Isbell is dope? I'm loving this!
He is from our hometown area in the Shoals in Northwest Alabama. Dude has been working hard for years and is amazing songwriter.
He's bringing along the whole 400 Unit with him, which means it's going to be a bit more of a grungy Modern Southern Rock sound, kind of a step or two below what Sturgill Simpson is doing these days. Listen to their album that was recorded live at the Ryman for a good idea of what to expect!
He literally always brings the 400 Unit with him. I don't know the last time I saw him billed without them. The real question is if Amanda Shires will be playing with them or not

She is on tour. Playing Asheville in February. I was surprised she wasn't on the poster when I saw Jason Isbell, so maybe not. Or maybe she will be an addition or something.

Not sure if they actually played with him in 2016 but that year he was billed just as Jason Isbell. Definitely hoping for Amanda Shires to be with them this year though, feel like it being basically a hometown show makes that likely.

watch his solo videos where he makes an absolute funky banger with loops in a matter of seconds. that is an unbelievable and technical skill to have even if you don't like his ""music""

Y'all millenials got all that sewer chewer shit going on. Megan likes it so I guess it's a bigger thing now than in the past.
He has a couple "hits" where he does the same lyrics, but most the set is basically electronic comedy looper improv.
This set is going to be wild. It was at Hula, and I hated him before I saw him live but I'm converted now. Some kid had a seizure during his set and he did a song about it (the kid was fine, didn't even go to the med tent, which is fucking weird).

He's someone I def plan on checking out depending on the schedule. He has quite the affinity for picking out dope melodic lines.
I'm hoping that they'll give them an extended late night slot or two sets, but after the Umphrey's thing a few years ago I'm a bit hesitant.
I think if that was the plan it would've been included on the lineup. I'm expecting late night, idk if it'll be Which or a Tent but I'm leaning towards a tent.

This is completely fucking obnoxious. I’ll probably pass by.
